Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

The Astros are tied for the worst record in the American League and are only a game up on the overall worst teams (Mets and Giants). We are lucky our division sucks a$$.

And yet, NONE of that matters. What matters is trying to figure out and get competent pitching and stay in the race. It’s still in front of them.

You’re right. I had Dodgers on the brain, maybe because we’re playing them. I meant the Yankees. My most despised team in the MLB.

The point is not just trying to be competitive in a one-season race of nags. The point is fixing your depleted organization and building something great again.

Exactly. Winning the AL West means you’re the best mediocre team in the league, but not a serious title contender.

The only reason that they have been this bad is because of the pitching. Brown alone would have upped their win total. They need to get healthy and not suck on the mound. The bats are fine. The next two months could either spiral or get back to level. But it is not time to give up on the whole dang thing yet.

You win your division and then see what happens in the playoffs. The team that we have seen in the first month could be hot at the end of the season.

This team is not going to do squat….not sure why you think the pitching is going to magically get better….outside of getting Hunter and Josh back the pitching is atrocious.

And that’s assuming both come back 100% with no setbacks.

Between management and the coaching staff we have that is no guarantee.

And even that does not move the needle enough to make headway.

When 3/5 of your rotation is bad it’s kinda tough to find many sustained winning streaks.

I’ve talked to Crane about this. He wants no part of it. He’s done everything he can to distance the team from the sign-stealing scandal, and this would open it all back up.

The Astros are only 4 1/2 games out in a bad division. Pena will be back next homestand, Hader is about two weeks away. Maybe Imai can get his sh*t together. Way too early to give up ship.

Lance clearly isn’t a capable big league pitcher anymore. They’ll probably use this nail thing as a reason to IL him. Keep him there for a month/6 weeks and give him a few more starts and then DFA him midseason. Thanks for your service.

This is a “smoke dope and hope” method of running a franchise. I talked to Crane this morning. He said he changed his mind since you and he spoke

Burrows with a great outing. 7 shutout innings, allowed 3 hits. Leaves with a 4-0 lead. Astros haven’t won a single game in Cincy since 2012.

They’ve never won there as an AL team, right?

I think it’s just two series in that time, but still.

Remembering how Lance Berkman, Roy Oswalt and Jeff Bagwell used to own the Reds. It’s hard to believe this could should would be the first win there in almost 14 years. Yes it’s only 6 games but still

Love my young kids. Let er’ rip. Cole knocked the #% outta that ball. That was nearly a line drive…if you call 250 feet in the air and a smoke trail a line drive.
