Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

It reminds me of that stretch of the Rockets where they weren’t good enough to make the playoffs but not bad enough to get a top lottery pick.

You mean that stretch of the last 30 years?

I’m kind of kidding, but no trips to the Finals in 30 years means you haven’t put together a championship team (I know, I know - injuries, bad luck, etc. once or twice).

I can understand them moving on from Luhnow, but then Crane followed that up by moving on from Click to get Dana. I dunno

And Loperfido strikes out with the bases loaded on a curveball in the dirt. Why not

The Click firing was mystifying. I guess he asked for more money and Crane being Crane, said no. Regardless how his new team is doing he has to be laughing his ass off

I just came here to log in and jinx that perfect game but Whitcomb didn’t need me

Lambert > Burrows

Not even a discussion, really. Burrows pretty much sucks.

Astros played like its past their bedtime and lost to the Angels in 10.

They had a 3-2 lead in the top of 8th when Alvarez slid into home plate, but was overturned on replay.

If it was Altuve trying to score, he would have been safe.

Oh well.

I have a problem with your use of “pretty much”. :joy:

So Shay hits a HR and gets sent down for a career minor leaguer that Dana paid cash for from the Rays.

Nevermind that this bum has an OPS less than .700 in the minors.

Another beautiful move by Dana that’s gonna push the Astros into first place.

Just absolute garbage.

Lord, fire Dana before the trade deadline….wait, fire him before the draft.

I was trying to allow for the fact that he is occasionally effective - just not usually.

If Weiss is the baseline for sucking, then Burrows is somewhere slightly above that.

Neyens is gonna be a HR IMO….Janek has already been passed up by Schiavone.

I haven’t given up hope on Matthews yet.

But all of the others have been terrible.

Pretty much the opposite of the 2011-2015 magic.

I’ll allow Brady Aiken since he netted us Bregs

……but Appel was a total bust from Day 1.

You’re allowed a bust when you nail the rest like that. That run was absurd.

Remember how much heat there was after the Correa pick?

But maybe the most impressive scouting job was the guy that found Altuve and decided to give him a shot….he has had the most productive career of all of them….and he may be the only scout amongst any MLB team that would have.

The Astros’ legacy of the Latin pipeline was legendary. Better even than the Dodgers. Now you have to have eyes everywhere all the time. Every team has dozens of guys in LAm looking for the next phenom. There’s something about the team that oozes lazy these days. Maybe it’s just me.

Hell, Boras is in Cuba two months a year.
