They lost to a player named Gage Jump.
My goodness, you can’t make this stuff up.

Maybe he wasn’t on the list of starters. He jump started.
Nick Allen is headed to the IL with “hamstring discomfort.”

Whitcomb is going to get another turn.
Yay
Matthews can backup SS….was hoping to see Dezenzo back up.
Rumblings about Peña being traded soon. Boras burning the midnight oil. It would probably need to be a team with enough money to work him a 3-4 year deal by year’s end.
Who could do that? 5-6 teams. But only 3 are in the hunt and only one could use a SS.
I’m not going to even entertain that right now. ![]()
Trey Mancini hasn’t been in the big leagues since 2023. Of course he knocks in a run against the Astros in his first plate appearance in 3 years. ![]()
Dana will trade for him
Lamont Wade just got hurt and had to leave the game.
Being in the Astros lineup is a bonafide health hazard right now.
Sometimes I feel like Altuve just does whatever he wants to. Odd time for a bunt attempt.
That was fun. ![]()
TBH, some of these days on the IL are not hurting the Astros….LMJ, Javier, etc.
Plus Blanco, Walter and Wesneski are counting as part of those days….so a bit misleading.
Of the teams with 700 or more missed days, only the Cubs have a winning record, two games above .500.
Injuries are clearly a factor in determining the success of a team.
I believe as the Astros become healthier, the fortunes of the team will improve.
Who other than Hunter and maybe Yainer do you expect to help the team make significant strides?
Other than them pretty much everyone is back.
Trade Yainer the day he gets back, in a package deal with noodlearm Meyers
RobDob with Steinbrenner-level clarity.
This team is strait ass. Honestly I don’t know how Crane can look at this and say it was a good move to fire Lunhow.
We might not have the best record in baseball with Lunhow but we’d at least have hope.
You think the Yankees would fire Cashman?!
Those are two significant pieces that are missing. Altuve and Hader just recently returned and both are contributing.
Hunter, if he regains his competitive edge, will give the Astros SP a solid 1-2-3-4 punch along with Arrighetti, Teng and Imai. Possibly Lambert. Not expecting much from Burrows, but perhaps he’ll surprise us.
Alvarez is having a career year. Thank goodness Walker has found his form. Paredes is solid. Cam is becoming more confident with every game.
The team needs more from Matthews and Meyers, but I don’t hold much hope for Meyers. He’s been with the team long enough now that we know what he offers, batting slumps with an occasional hitting streak.
If they can remain healthy, the Astros should make noise and compete for the West or possible a WC.
At this point, anything is possible.
I respect your opinion Goose……but for me this is all just spinning their wheels….having a shot at the West or a Wild Card is more indicative of how sh-tty the division and league as a whole are, not that the Astros are some sort of contender.
This is just toiling in purgatory IMO……I would rather do a soft “re-build” and miss the playoffs than make the Wild Card and lose in that round or the next.
This team is flawed in many places….they are not even close to being a World Series contender……this is going to be a sellers market and they should take advantage of trading a few guys to gain some legitimate prospects.
Add them to this years picks ( 2 first round picks and 6 in the top 133).
That way you are getting closer to building the next foundation of the Astros next juggernaut.
Screwing around as a middling team and missing out on getting value is a huge mistake IMO.
