Houston Astros Baseball & MLB Discussions

Sousa was so nasty that inning.

The Astros are definitely not a spray some ethyl chloride on it, or rub some dirt on it, type of team. The wussification of modern day sports continues.

At least Wesneski will be on schedule to take Spencer’s next start.

Brown-Blanco-Imai-Lambert-Wesneski could work out OK.

80-82 might win this sickly division.

The entire AL is a dumpster fire this season. The Astros should be selling at the deadline but its hard to tell your fans that when you are 2 games out of first place.

HB pitched like an ace tonight.

That was a big rbi for the 4th run scored for E-sock. Defense: solid.

Would love for them not to trade him but I’m fearful the DS Dana will dump him for some dumb trade or cash considerations. He’s not as smart as he believes that he is.

The next seven games are important for the Astros. After Sunday’s game with the ChiSox, they travel to California to play three games with the last place Angels, then a head-to-head, three games series with Texas.

If they play at their best, it’s possible to take 1st place in the West about this time next week. Long shot, but possible.

It wasn’t very long ago, that scenario seemed outside the realm of possibility.

Brown’s excellent performance against the Sox gives glimmer of hope that the Astros ace has found his game at a good time of the season because after all, he is the anchor of the pitching staff.

The offensive performances of Alvarez, Paredes, Peña and Smith are encouraging. Sometimes it only takes a few hot bats to inspire the lineup to greater heights.

The late game, come from behind wins reminds me of the competitive teams of the glory years.

Either that or my hopefulness is founded on smoke and mirrors.

We’ll see.

What’s crazy to me is I’ve seen comments on FB and Reddit wanting the Astros to sign him to a minor league deal.

FB Astro’s fans are barely fans, most of them started being fans in 2017

When was it out of the realm of possibility? The division has been neck and neck all season.

It seemed that way when the Astros were 11 games under .500, with multiple injuries, some season ending injuries to superstars, and a horrible SP staff.
Oh yeah, they were in 4th place, flirting with 5th

How many games back were they from first though?

6.5 games.

Early in the season, 162 games and in a division where the other teams hadn’t (and still haven’t) established themselves yet.

It definitely seemed like there was no hope early on… that the last decade of dominance was trending the other way…

But they did a good job weathering the storm and are lucky to be in a division where it looks like nobody wants to win it…
