Management should send Chaz to SL until he finds his hitting form. I don’t understand the reluctance to make common sense decisions that a Little Leaguer would recommend?
If Chaz can’t find his hitting touch against minor league pitching, what makes the front office think Chaz will find it against MLB pitching?
.165 in 200 MLB ABs.
Hits into an easy double 1st 'Stros AB.
I like running these AAAA guys last few roster spots.
Gotta raise the floor in most places. https://www.mlb.com/player/cooper-hummel-669450
After the trade deadline.
If a guy like Hummel who stinks in 200 Abs is Stros call up.
The obvious call up guys = better as trade prices without an MLB gander.
The young guys aren’t gonna mature in Sugarland. You gotta put them out there. And if you’re losing then what are the opportunity costs? Of course you’re paying other people to not play, but better to pay someone not to play than pay them to kill you.
It’s just being run like the path of least resistance. I know about the injuries. But part of running a pro franchise is knowing when injuries have sunk your season and knowing how to re-group and build back better.
There are things you can do to strengthen the long game that aren’t part of playing catch-up in a miserable division. Part of that is letting the kids play. You’re still drawing 35k with dog doo doo results. Playing Loperfido 50 games isn’t gonna affect that in the abstract. It is gonna make you better next year, though.
