Houston Cougars Spring Position Previews: Linebacker

If you didn’t know by now, the defense is going to look a lot different in 2019 than it did last season. Joe Cauthen’s scheme will change things up, and no one experiences more of a change than this group. Houston utilized four linebackers last season, and could go down to two assuming Cauthen’s running a 4-2-5 again. He does use a “Bandit” position, which is a pass rushing linebacker, so that could give another linebacker a chance to see the field. Either way, there will be less reps to go around, so guys will have to adapt.

These articles have been good. Thanks for posting. I disagree with the author’s assessment that speed is not one of Parish’s strength. He showed very good pursuit last year and I think I saw his 40 time was sub 4.6.

Although I don’t always agree with Underdog Dynasty’s analysis, but they are thorough and focus on the G5. The guys that write for the AAC are a Temple fan who covers Maryland football normally and another guy who lives in Ohio, IIRC.

Both of the 2019 recruits will get playing time. At least 1 will start.
