Manjack should not have to hold a player accountable. That’s the coaches job.
Oh look, the Chronicle picked up the story
Nation Press seems to think so. Rare too see teammates fighting each other in a game…No coach would tolerate that or have that on their team Jawboning one another what happens all the time yes, physically assaulting one another different story
The most disgusting part is both players played later in the game like it didn’t even happen.
Brown should have been out. Manjack too, but Manjack just became one of my favorite players now.
For comparison, UT got all their players custom tailored suits for game day entrances. Yes, it’s another sign of Dana’s lacking culture. This is all Dana. This team is an absolute reflection of him.
“Manjack took it upon himself to go over there and confront Sam, which is not the right thing to do,” Houston coach Dana Holgorsen said after the game, via ESPN. “He was dead wrong and shouldn’t have done it, and knows it, and felt bad about it.”
Holgorson is dead wrong and should have let it go. His team is undisciplined and when someone shows leadership and tries to correct the bad behavior, he jumps them. I’m done with this guy, he’s hostility, his bad defense, poor clock management and obviously bad decision making. Let Holgorsen go now so we can have a coach that will get us ready for next year. Thank Manjack for showing us the way.
I’m going to say this, YOU NEVER EVER HIRE SOMEONE WHO HAS A DRINKING PROBLEM PERIOD. UNLESS YOU WANT THERE PROBLEMS.
You are right. College teams are a reflection of the coach.
Manjack did Dana’s job. Kid should be voted team captain today.
I don’t understand why people have said he has a drinking problem. Am I missing something?
Dude is a 51 year old bachelor who likes to go out. My Kinkaid friends that know I love UH see him out all the time in Uptown joints and message me with things like “why is your coach out on a Saturday during the season?”
He’s not as invisible as he thinks he is. People know. If you’re 12-2 you can get away with it. If you’re 18-17 overall and the program looks headed in the wrong direction the people that held their tongues will free their hands…
We would never have had one of the greatest scenes in cinema history if Gerry Bertier did not hold Ray accountable for not blocking for his African-American teammates. Sometimes, captains just gotta captain.
Obviously this is a movie. Lol. But getting crap from your teammates resonates with some guys more than getting crap from your coaches. It is what it is.
I get those calls too.
I know several cats in their 50s who flat out can’t mentally leave their 20s. They can’t leave the party scene and “single” life whether they are single or not!
It gets worse when they hit that midlife crisis. My dad can’t leave the 1980s-1990s behind. He even tried to re-enroll at TSU (he attended in the 80s) a decade ago but opted for HCC and hung out around campus.

Somebody said he did prior to his arrival here. Plus as already mentioned in this thread, people see him out and about all the time.
I can’t leave the 80’s behind either but it really doesn’t go any further than watching Alf reruns and listening to new order… that and I have a swatch.
From the USA Today misery index:
Houston: It’s never a good sign when teammates shove each other in the middle of a game where everyone can see it. But early in the third quarter of Houston’s 48-30 loss to Kansas, receiver Joseph Manjack came over and shoved receiver Sam Brown on the sideline, necessitating coaches and players to step in and separate them. That is not the kind of thing that happens with a disciplined team that has its act together. Then again, 1-2 Houston is arguably the nation’s biggest disappointment after starting the season as the team to beat for the Group of Five’s bid to a New Year’s Six bowl game. Dana Holgorsen, who was supposed to be a transformative hire for the Cougars, is now just 20-17 in his fourth season.
