Houston projected to pass Chicago in 2037 as third largest US city

On the other hand…
New survey says 40% of Houstonians considering moving due to severe weather

Considering moving and actually moving are two different things. How many people “consider” moving from Chicago due to cold weather?

Probably quite a few.

I thought we had already passed Chicago?

Not quite. But we are getting there.

I remember hearing this growing up. Here it is 40 later and we just need to wait another 15 for it to come true

Same thought here; it seems like I’ve been
hearing this forever. Kinda like nuclear fusion.

I think the data supports this. Places like Chicago and NYC are just completely unaffordable for average people.

I have some friends (20s) living in NYC, and most of them have outside help or live with roommates. Whenever we go to West Village, it’s literally full of trust fund kids (not judging but just stating the obvious). Any city that has good public transit is unaffordable.

Houston is growing because of its sprawl. It’s not a good thing in my opinion in the long run. It’s bankrupting the core of the city

Considering moving until they realize that everywhere else has extreme weather too.

Super intense rains are hitting every part of the country now. Tornados, hurricanes, flooding, drought, blizzards, extreme heat, extreme cold… there’s no place that is immune.

I think Forbes predicted this back in 2013.

hey, that’s what i did; seems i have company. extreme heat and humidity, mosquitos, tornadoes, hurricanes and an ongoing earthquake; Houston has it all !

despite my jabs at Houston and the climate being a deterrent for many, i’m suprised Houston hasn’t passed chicago yet; just a drive thru chicago and you can tell its not interested in being a top city;its beat up and run down; Houston constantly improves its appeal.
