On paper is it me, or does this roster seem like a step down from last year?
Much better guard options this year, front court is light as of now. Hoping they add some more size.
I think offense is a bit more capableâŠâŠthe Wilson add certainly helps defensivelyâŠ.
Gonna need to make a couple of calls for a bigâŠ.doesnât even need to score.
I think most of our recent bigs are playing somewhere.
I like this TBT squad. Galen and Rob is a trip down memory lane. No Fabian this year but he didnât play the first few games last year and was only a complimentary player last year. As @Pollardsvision said, this yearâs squad needs a big.
First game is this sunday. Lots of roster updates. Jwan is now listed on the roster, Caleb Mills no longer there. ISUâs Tre King on the roster as well
*Tre King
*Kevin Cross from Tulane
Good catch. We finally got him!
*No jokes, please.
I was fine with Mills, but adding players who never played for UH is pretty weird lol. Maybe they just needed to fill the roster?
@ghostofjdjrusk probably just need to fill the roster. TBT is unpaid.
You can win $1 million. If you win the whole thing. Losers get nothing
So guys like Corey Davis Jr, are playing in Canada right now, getting some $, instead of TBT
Josh Carlton, Fabian White, Justin Gorham, etc are just resting their bodies for the next upcoming season. Instead of playing in TBT
Some of these guys are late 20s, some above 30 (Rob Gray). If you need a break from hoops, you dont play TBT. Go on vacation
That roster is kinda underwhelming. I wish we saw more Coogs on it.
Caleb quit again⊠fake a$$ famâŠ
Whereâs that clown that was defending himâŠ
All good⊠we all have a clown take every now & thenâŠ
Tre King from ISU @RezClone
Thatâs a really good front court rotation with Roberts, Cross and Davis with Pollard giving min when we need them.
Robinson gives this team what they didnât have last season, a PG who can handle the ball and run the offense. He is also a ball stopper at the top. Last season had a lot of holes but they made up for it with culture.
What they need is a couple guys who can really drain threes and they didnât have that last season either. Hopefully a couple of the guys not former Coogs can fill the roles.
Fits like a glove!
Tre Kingâs grandfather went to TSU, father and uncles played at Willowridge - his father and uncles all went to Drake Un
Roster is continually in flux⊠as of 10:54 on 7/14,
Brandon Morris- played for Houston under Dickey for 2 years. 43% from 3 his last year. 6â0, 185. Listed as GM.
Derrick Griffin- SWAC player of the year as a freshman at Texas Southern. Think he got hurt his 2nd year. Shot 67% over 40 games, 69% on 2âs, 11 RPG, 1.8 BPG, 12.7 PPG.
Terran Pettaway- all big 10 at Nebraska. Averaged 18 PPG over 2 years at Nebraska, 1.0 SPG, 77% from FT on 6 attempts a game.
Tevin Smith- all-horizon and all-defense at Cleveland State. His last year, 14 PPG, 1.1 SPG and 1.1 BPG, 77% FT on 4 attempts.
Tre King- 2X all Ohio valley conference at Eastern Kentucky before transferring to Iowa State. He was on Iowa State for 2022-23 and 23-24 seasons. 1.1 SPG his final year, hit about 80% from FT, 57% from 2 his final year, 50% or better both seasons.
Tyrece Radford- all SEC at A&M. Started and took 22 shots against us in the tournament, 27/15/6. His final year at A&M, averaged 17 PPG, 1.2 SPG his first year, 6.2 RPG or better in 2 of 3 seasons, shot 80% from FT his 2nd season, 49% overall and 40% from 3 his first season.
Devin Davis, Devonta Pollard, Eric Weary (player/assistant coach, didnât play at all last year), Galen Robinson, Jeremy Hollimon (still in, from Troy), JâWan Roberts, Mylik Wilson, Nijal Pearson (still in, from Texas State), Rob Gray.
Radford was tough to contain. His athleticism will be welcomed and anyone who can consistently hit a three. If Francis isnât invited to an NBA training camp would love to add him to the roster.
We will play the winner of Game #6 which plays 4:00 Friday. We will need to be prepared as I think this places us at a disadvantage for our first game Sunday.
