Current Houston assistant coach Alvin Brooks used to be on the Kentucky men’s basketball staff. He was the director of operations for the Wildcats from 2007-09.
Brooks said he understands how important the UK program is to the state of Kentucky.
“They (Kentucky fans) travel better than any program I’ve seen,” said Brooks.
Brooks was on the Kentucky staff during the Billy Gillispie era. But even after Gillispie left, Brooks still knows a thing or two about the Wildcats in the John Calipari era.
“Coach Cal (has) obviously done a great job of recruiting talented guys and done a great job coaching them,” said Brooks. “They’re really good defensively and tough. Everybody knows their role.”
