How stupid was the old CF post season?

ND and Ohio State would have been left out of the dumb 4 team fake playoff last year.

Before that asinine system it was just the top 2 teams…so Oregon and Georgia would have been playing for the national championship.

The fraud is exposed.

This year is the closest we get to actually having a real CFB national champion. Everything before was just exhibition game(s).

Move to 16, include all conference champions, and ditch the bowls that kept up the charade for a century.

I actually like the idea of a bigger playoff.

In fact, I dig the D3 system of a 10 game regular season, and a playoff that includes all conference champs, plus some at larges.

Barring that…I’m willing to consider your suggestion and @92010Coogs suggestion of having a 16 team playoff with all conference champions.

I like it. I think including all conference champions is a thing and then you may see schools do a double take when it comes to which conference to be in as there will be equal access. Only reason to be P4 is the money, but is it worth it if you can never make it to the big show?

Coogcheese, uhlaw97 and 92010Coogs agreeing on something.

Did the apocalypse happen and I missed it?

A 16 team playoff would still allow for a few at larges.

ND would be one if they have 10 or more wins.

A few could still get in as conference runners-up if they are highly ranked enough.

and I agree with Law on this one.

The BCS era was the black hole of college football.

The 4 team playoff was a huge upgrade and this format is heaven…WIN IT ON THE FIELD!

It is all controlled by the networks and their TV ratings.

Again…. It is all about the Benjamin’s !!

I I like your idea but I would include the Bowls into all rounds of the playoffs.

Imagine if the first round games were the Texas,Alamo,Sun,Holliday,Music City, Gator, etc.

It would be a cool way to integrate more current bowls and drive up the attendance and TV.

As for the really small bowls….i say leave em’.

It’s an opportunity for the smaller schools and schools that have really fought to get to 6-6 or 7-5 as a reward….course I’m a sports junkie in general and will watch most any bowl.

How was the old system? INHO BETTER than the crap we’ve seen so far…The CFP games have been a laugher. One team comes in looking like they haven’t practiced in a year and the other team comes in jacked up and CRUSHES them. Not one game has been remotely competitive. IMHO the FCS games have actually been better (this year not so much) over the last few years.

100% agreed.

The FCS uses the 16 team system.

Go look at the scores of some of the 1st and 2nd round games….Blowouts are going to happen.
Even Oregon, the top ranked team in the country was not immune.

I kind of liked having the #1 team play the #2 team and then have other meaningful bowls. Selection is hard, but I think a lot of the times they got it right, and it’s fun to argue. Computer rankings help.

Where we are now, is that none of the conference champions are in the playoffs anymore. Conference chanpisinhio games have already started to lose their luster…and now the CFP committee can further argue the only teams really should be the top ranked teams, it’s not important to have conference champions.

IDK it just seems strange the CFP has been BORING AS HELL.

Maybe because we have no skin in the game? Our season was such ASS that maybe it has soured your perspective on football. It’ll happen when you have an offense that was as bad as ours. Man, i wanted to cry or gouge out my eyes seeing this offense. Terrible. Fook!!!

I get it….totally understand your point.

But I’d rather watch bowl games with something on the line rather than not.

We’ve seen blowouts and boring games when it was just two teams or four team “playoffs”.

Just my opinion.

Oh, and how silly does the UCF “Championship” look now…?

I guess I expected too much… I thought we’d see more "on the edge of your seat’ thrillers. maybe its just the newness of it and the HYPE was off the charts. I’ve seen better “stupor bowls”.

Disagree. I’ve enjoyed following it.

Even if only one game was really close.

WIN IT ON THE FIELD!!!
