How to Recruit UH Students?

I’m looking to hire an entry level analyst. It’s a pretty good job with outstanding benefits. I’ve just posted the job on the “Cougar Pathway” site run by UH’s University Career Services. The last time I used “Cougar Pathway”, I got very little response. Is “Cougar Pathway” something that UH students use, or is there a better way to reach them?

Check out https://uhlink.com/

I feel that more students (and Alunmi) are more active on there.

EDIT: Some faculty & staff are on there, too, so your job posting might get more reach thru here.

I’ve seen a couple of jobs make their way through the grapevine on LinkedIn. Aside from that, I’m not sure. Honestly, I didn’t realize how lackluster our career services were until I went to Auburn. I’d name it among the school’s biggest weak points.

I got my entry kevel hardware engineering job through the engineering career fair…

I remember certain companies would reach out to specific professors to find interns/new hires…

Maybe reach out to the business college…

I searched Bauer COB Career Fair and I found this link to a jobs portal… they request employers to fill it out prior to the career fair but seems like a site to post jobs for candidates from Bauer COB…

This is insane. The job I posted to Cougar Pathway is not visible on the Bauer COB site even though I said I was interested in business majors. Well, there’s one task for today – submit the job to Bauer. Thanks for the tip, KBC.

I really don’t get it. Both Cougar Pathway and the Bauer Career Center job sites are on the Symplicity platform. My username/password for one works for both. But if I post a job for business majors at Cougar Pathway, it doesn’t show up at the Bauer Career Center. I’m beginning to agree with a previous poster. There is room for improvement at UH career services.

I appreciate the advice on career fairs. There are only two left this semester, and I have conflicts on both, but that does seem like a good choice. You can judge a lot about a person’s personality on the spot at a career fair.

Yeah… Coogs hiring Coogs isn’t a tradition unfortunately…

We need to be more like Aggie when it comes to recruiting employees and establishing pipelines into companies.

Job submitted to the Bauer COB job board. Thanks again for that tip.

I still can’t believe UH doesn’t make this easier. When I submitted to Cougar Pathway, I should have gotten a notice that because I’m looking for COB applicants, do I want to crosspost at Bauer COB. Instead, they are separate systems. It wasn’t even as simple as cross listing. I literally had to cut-and-paste everything I had done at Cougar Pathway to the Bauer COB site.

Sheesh.

They’re trying to make it a thing with thru the uhlink.com website…but not sure how well it’s going

If you’re trying to hire a business student, contact the Rockwell career center and get the position posted on Bauer Career gateway. You’ll get a ton of applicants there.

Source: I’m a current Bauer student who is trying to find an internship. And this is the platform we (students at Bauer) are told to use if we want to use a university resource to find an internship/full-time job.

7/11 coupons?

I’ve looked at UH Link. My impression is that is almost exclusively used for on-campus job opportunities. Am I mistaken?

I believe you are…

I’ve seen jobs outisde of UH or unrelated to UH posted on there. I’ve even posted/shared job openings myself.

Handshake is the platform most college students and most universities use for campus recruiting.

You can also use LinkedIn and specify that you want local candidates only. That will usually net a number of UH students.
