Now what we need is an analysis of Taze Moore showing there is no evidence he can play Division 1 Basketball because he did not transfer from the appropriate League.
the taze situation is what we are asking for, make a deep team , taze was on a deep team, that it lost two key guards and we could still pull taze out… no one is calling for the transfers to be kicked out of the team… but to add maybe another quality big… so “if” they dont work out, we’ll have options on the bench… we need all our bigs to workout with the current set up
side note: taze was a guard/wing… the nuance that we are discussing is bigs…the gap between guards at most organized basketball levels honestly isnt as big as most would think … the quality of bigs is where there is normally a big disparity
Ok fellas. If you havent figured it by now, i over analyze stuff…
Some of us feel like we could have gotten a proven player. Especially a big. Dedan checks the box some at guard. Hadnot nice backup.
I wanted Punch. Even Dawes with a hometown discount. Doesnt seem like we were looking…and at PF, there wasnt a lot out there. Especially for the amount they were getting.
So considering we have Tugler coming back and the #1 Center…if you are a big man, you might not start if Diane is what his ranking has him at. Chase may be locked in at the 3.
So it may be that our coaches actually got who they wanted.
Gillespie may be coming knowing he’s gonna split time and may be coming off the bench.
I figure the top center is going to be told at least some minutes will be guaranteed.
and yes i still stand by what i said… that taze was recruited to be practice help…not recruited to be a major contributor … sampson said the rotation expectation preseason… so i stand by that
reality not matching expectation does not change the expectation hindsight
we ended up with a solid portal class anyways so i think we could’ve gotten one
thing is we probably aren’t well off enough to “select” the transfers we want like we can with HS recruits not to mention going prices are way higher now than what it was when we got edwards or cryer
also surprised no one mentioned this … but in the tyus commitment video sampson talks the recruiting dynamics
says we cant add any guards that could compete because someone would certainly leave in return. its not an just add… but with every add their will be a subtraction, says he has to be loyal to his guys that theyve been waiting their turn
@Joprior23 sampson clearly states tyus will be a practice player… this is before stepping a single second on the court, before a single practice. . it debunks the notion that their isnt a hierarchy when recruited
but back to point… but back to point… im okay with the guard situation… i still would want a low risk big… most of the bigs are new players, we shouldnt be holding loyalty to them overthe overall quality of the team, they have worn a jersey for us
Took a while to find the net rankings but the American was also 11th for 2025, the MAC was 17th. So yeah, the American was a better league but not by the margin you stated.
And the top overall transfer rankings don’t always mean can’t miss, there are plenty of top 5 transfers that didn’t work out
Last year the Mac was 22-24 in both… American was 10 and 11 respectively last year
The gap is pretty huge…
Both long story short, no need dive in the weeds… the yaxel isn’t a good comp …it’s not the same type of Add… pj haggerty from the same league was the #2 recruit and an all American that year …
Despite you just being wrong about his commitment… the logic alone this board makes no sense
You just made a post that Jamal needed developing time… there a multiple posts here saying jojo wasn’t that good this year because he missed the offseason (a 3rd year player)
But a guy who got zero offseason, dropped in mid season, dealing with culture clash from another country gets no grace??? He had to be great right away???
I believe in samspon as a developer, and leading the gleague in blocks and being a starter there shows potential…
His offense is poor, and will never be great… but what got us to a national title 2 years ago were 2 elite shot blocking centers without great offense
And the full context of the conversation was I have other preferred bigs (like Thiam at the time) but if we don’t have NIL to get anyone good he is a decent pick up in that context
But yes the distribution of grace on this board is illogical
Loud and wrong? “Probably” absolves me of being “loud and wrong” my guy. Sorry I sided the headline of Abdullah Ahmed and Junjie Wang signing with UMASS . Pot calling the kettle black though lol you’re the king of loud and wrong. Ironically he went from the Big12 to what you’ve been calling a “bad” conference for weeks. Perhaps nobody else saw what you saw when you watched him play basketball.
Pesik…you’re comparing a freshman guard coming in to division 1 basketball and needing time to develop to a 22 year old (in your own words) PROFESSIONAL basketball player?! The way you move the goal post, and change the rules to fit your narrative, is impressive. The way you can pull one word from here, two words from there, cherry pick this info with no context from over there, truly a masterclass in fact manipulation. As always, I do enjoy your posts and analysis, I just have to chuckle sometimes.
Pesik, if you don’t think you’ve ever been wrong on here, there’s nothing I can post that will change your mind. I think everyone on here, who has posted a fair amount, has been wrong before.
