Holy sh!t
Eddie Nuñez has some work to do to be able to even get us a 1/16th of that
The first NCAA team to have jerseys that look like NASCAR….thats one way….let them challenge it in court.
Probably by not renewing with TDECU. But theyve been a good partner so hopefully this new deal is for more than 23mm.
This deal is for A&M’s media rights; Learfield and IMG currently manage those for us, as I recall, as they did with A&M prior to this deal. TDECU has little or nothing to do with it.
Oh, well then what are we getting with them?
That’s unclear. We renewed earlier this year for multiple years, but from what I can tell the terms of the deal were not disclosed. If someone wants to submit a FOIA request to the school to get the contract, they probably could.
EDIT: It looks like they mostly do business through a profit sharing model, but at least in the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 years, we appear to have been making about $2MM per year. (Nevermind A&M; that’s less than what Marshall made in those years.)
Geez! Like Aggie needed help with their NIL $$$.
NIL is but one factor to a successful program. It gets you players who go to the highest bidder. A&M has proven that a rich NIL does not guarantee a conference championship. Since A&M has been in the SEC since 2012, how many football championships has A&M won? I will hang up and listen.
Given my druthers, I’d rather have a large NIL budget than a small one.
It sounds like some of you think this will make aTm richer than us. Here’s a shocker – they have always been richer than us and will probably always be. We have always had to do more with less.
It starts with having 40,000 fans come to your stadium…just for pep rallies. And then have 100,000 come to your games. The rest takes care of itself.
Right now, we would be ecstatic if we get close to 40K for a home game against a mediocre opponent. Wait, have we ever gotten 40K for a game against a mediocre opponent at TDECU? I don’t remember any.
How many were at the Louisville game?
A&M will never win anything, whether they have money or not. It’s in their DNA.
Here are all of our 40K and above games at TDECU.
2014: UTSA 40,755 (Opening game of the season)
2015: #25 Memphis 42,159
2015: #15 Navy 42,822
2016: UConn 40,873
2016: #3 Louisville
Of those games only UTSA and UConn would be considered mediocre, though UTSA was coming off of a good season in 2013 and beat us here in TDECU in that 2014 game. They brought a whole lot of fans.
The UConn game was a revenge match.
Yes…
The inaugural game against UTSA back in 2014 that we ended up losing, where fans began emptying the stadium by half-time.
We had 39k for Houston vs Rice in 2017 lol
UT had to be over 40k…
