I Have to Say This

Valvano was the ultimate sandbagger.

Duke was nothing until coach K arrived.

Before Coach K, Duke played in 4 Final Fours and were in The National Title Game twice.

I read it as hyperbole.

Those were probably all alumni & not t-shirt fans…

Dr. Dave taught me circuits & electronics in the Cullen COE EE college… he’s a Dook PhD and a great prof/administrator; he was a ggod Dook fan as well.

Guys I hoop with here in the triangle that are t-shirt fans… not so much… akways yapping…

That’s not nothing…

Yes after that spectacular dunk fest win over Louisville the odds makers had us as big favorites.
But also remember there was no shot clock and NCS controlled the tempo and we looked drained from Saturday.
Regardless it was heartbreaking especially since most of us thought we would win big.
Yes it was a huge letdown but like Clyde said later, they were a team of destiny.
I got over it years ago but I must confess those clips of Lorenzo Charles do raise my blood pressure a tad lol

Nope- the Jimmy V footage was a clessic.

Plus it’s Jimmy V… will ALWAYS be played.

UCONN shouldn’t have won that game. No coach should be allowed to mock the refs the way Hurley does… he should have gotten a tech with 0.4 seconds left. That’s total bs.

I donate to the Jimmy V. Foundation every year because of the N.C. State game. It somehow eases the pain of that loss.

UCONN had better win it or Hurley could be in deep doodoo. I can’t believe the higher ups at UCONN will put up with that much embarrassment for much longer…

I’ve never begrudged Jimmy V. winning that game. I was sitting about 50 feet from where Charles dunked that ball and I wish we had won, but time has healed a lot of that.

Charles and Jimmy V are both gone.

I didn’t catch it in real time. Need to go find a clip of the incident

That would have been epic.

Roger Ayers is the ref from the Hurley video

His Foundation is about the only thing I respect Valvano. I was fortunate enough to have seats right across the aisle from him for the Final Four in Seattle. Having to listen to him for two days really got old.

Duke choking two year in a row has to have coach K rethinking. That was all on Sheyer. No need to get the ball across, the double team was waiting on you to throw it across. Take the 10 seconds. Take the foul. Do not throw it into a trap.

Due to the Valvano effect, I doubt if that will ever go away.
