The self-flagellation in our fan base is brain numbing. Just two years ago our own fans started a national discussion about our attendance. Now we’re poor. We should start complaining about the mistreatment of our athletes. And follow that up with a study showing us with the highest level of dope smokers in the p4.

CKS complained that we did not have a private jet for him to recruit.
BYU have the national LDS church backing them.
UH has to depend people who mainly live in the Houston area.
His contract allows him 40 hours of use of private jet per year….if he needs more then TF obliges.

They don’t want to have a bad look with church funds going into athletics.
The department isn’t an allowed to have debt or to run a deficit. They were miserable to work with for donors but NIL let the donors go around the school.

A person is generally poor if they don’t, or unable, to earn enough money to provide for themselves and they depend on family members and/or government subsidies for their survival and well being.
University athletics operate the same way. They depend on the charity of alumni and fans through donations and sales and/or belong to a conference that distributes funds they obtain through television deals.
Strip away donations, then the debate on whether we are rich or poor is a moot matter of discussion.
Majority of D1 athletic programs operate in the red unfortunately.

This is the part some of our folks don’t understand. Being subsidized is the norm. And for better or worse schools that value athletics are going to keep on doing it. Poor or not.
IMHO we as a fan base need to teach ourselves how to use discretion in fretting about finances. Keep it at the subterranean level and act like we’re the Land of Milk and Honey publicly.

How many teams (even pro teams) can afford that many top players coming out of one class?
We are recruiting a team of good players, not a team of one stellar player and a few slightly above average players.

Check the record of the last 10 years. “We’re not poor, just living within our means.” Go Coogs!
And, being the #1 team over the past 10 years, we are living very well.
