Anime Night.
I know… I’m in my mid 40s now and it’s not my thing either, but I work with a bunch of college educated, young professionals who are absolutely obsessed with Anime. It’s huge right now and its everywhere.
Work with a small studio, create a limited edition shirt for the students, meet and great at the tailgates, paint the endzones to match, etc.
You know, based on my recollection of the smell from walking through the Furry Convention on the way to last year’s UTSA game, this kind of thing in our stadium would create an air quality alert.
I love the idea! Only question is what do we do with them after they walk into our trap? Do we relocate and release them into a more suitable environment? Or…
would alienate the regular / hardcore fans. sports and anime are typically polar opposites in terms of the crowd they attract meaning who would it really draw?
I don’t think the groups are as opposite as they were a couple of decades ago. The Chargers were roundly applauded when they released their schedule as an anime intro two years in a row. It’s not uncommon for college or NFL or NBA players to talk openly about it, or for rappers to reference it. Anime is basically just another part of pop culture nowadays, especially the super mainstream stuff.
