IF we had won?

EVERYTHING would be different. It really was a MUST win for Coach Fritz. His debut! I’m still behind him, but this did nothing to energize our spirits going forward this season. EVERYTHING would be different! Go Googs!

He ONLY had all off season to prepare and create a game plan for his team.

That WAS a playoff game for him.

Before the game, I went back and watched his game plan for the 2021 Tulane @ Oklahoma game. That was their first game of the season and they made a competitive game out of it only losing 40-35.

I was really impressed by his preparation for that game so im not sure what happened Saturday

To put things in perspective, that was a Tulane team that ONLY won 2 games with an AAC schedule and that Oklahoma was a 2 loss squad yet the game plan kept them in the game

I really had no opinion on the Fritz hire, I will wait for season end to form one. We have laid some eggs before to start a season, but this was ostrich sized. The whole coaching staff owns this one.

The difference was he had the Tulane team prior to a first game situation with 60+ new players and not much in the remaining cupboard. I would like to see a decent effort on Saturday, NOONE expects us to win, and we won’t, but a better effort and a build for the remainder of the season. If we finish 4-8 and better effort than last season, I will be happy.

Agree that Dana Applebush left him nothing. I’m really not alarmed over the personnel issue. You can’t play in a new system the same way two and three year guys can.

With that in mind I wish the’d have had a different scheme on standby so when the first flamed out they could go to plan B. What would that be? Ta hell if I know.

Maybe that’s why Pez got the axe because he didn’t effectively make sure CDH was doing the minimum to acquire talent…he just didn’t recruit.

Pez was CDH’s boss and he didn’t respect his superiors.

Maybe. Pez expected Tilman to run the department for him. He didn’t seem to be a respected stakeholder based on things I heard and their public interaction. I think Tilman and Renu supplanted him when they hired Dana and Pez, so, rather than evaluate things like a department executive, he just assumed it was his place to rubber stamp things.

Has it crossed anyone’s mind that they might know things that you don’t.

Scoreboard results aren’t a matter of flipping the right switches and who is to say what’s right? Some things aren’t easy to predict as it might seem or one of us would be sitting in that chair.

Or maybe their game isn’t up to Monday Morning Quarterbacking standards.

Relax! :football: is only a game.
Edit: And only one game at that! :sunglasses:

We scheduled a annually poor UNLV team that turned out to be really good based on last year and apparently, still, this year. Think of what OU thought when they came into NRG to play us and even said,: “Had we known they would be that good, we would have never scheduled them”. It happens. I am hoping for a better product at OU, then a beat down of Rice to begin progressing.

This was an ostrich sized egg from a hummingbird.

It was something that comes out of a bird, but not an egg.

Wonder if he had 65 new players on that team, learning a new system? Apples and rocks . . . . . Plan to be in Rice Stadium Saturday to take a peek at both teams. SO’s great nephew plays for Rice so we support him and family.
