Does Anyone Understand We Can Do What Indiana is Doing Right Now?
That question certainly came to my mind as I am watching this blowout tonight.
Cignetti is one of the best coaches ever. Hard to replicate that. Although we kinda did with basketball.
Cignett is a master coach and a master strategist. We have a similar quality coach actually with a similar approach to how he builds his team, but we lack the killer instinct Cignetti brings to Indiana. We have to stop going into ball control when we’re up and keep doing the things that are successful inside a game.
There is money around UH. I think the blue print is there and we can do it.
I totally get it…
I do.
When Fritz said the goal was a National Championship is wasn’t just lip service.
I think he has 100% had conversations behind the scenes that leave him to believe he would have the players to do it……soon
We have the closest thing to Cignetti
Let this sink in. You don’t bully Lanning and that type of talent twice in the same season and not be elite. Cig probably has one of the biggest brains of this century. Don’t let him get more talent either. Indiana better pay up!
With Fritz, we absolutely can do what IU is doing. The biggest difference is that we just got to the P4. Cignetti started at a higher floor due to IU recruiting at the P5 level for years. So Fritz had more work to do but the progress we made this year was incredible. Fritz year 2 (10-3) here is similar to what Cignetti year 1 (11-2).
I think we see another huge jump in our progress next year. I’m stoked about next season.
Indiana is the proof that you need team with chemistry and well coached players, not multi million dollars rosters or 55 super star players.
Fritz is in a fertile recruiting area which is the only advantage we have over IU.
We can certainly do what Indiana is doing right now…They have a few 4 stars and a whole team of 3 stars. Mendoza was a 2 star coming out of HS to Cal. They have great coaching and great team chemistry…It is a remarkable accomplishment for their FB program. I think they will win it all on the 19th. We can be like them. I have complete faith in CWF.
That would mean that Fritz needs to get Weigman to be a Heisman contender and a great o-line.
Also to stop losing to teams we should beat.
every single coach in the P4 says the goal is t win a national championship
CWF has been doing some really good high school recruiting, but the vast majority of the HS recruits need to be developed and that could take 1 to 3 years each, depending on natural ability and coachability. This fall 38 players will be freshmen, including redshirt freshmen and 14 sophomores.
I don’t know what the status is of our transfer portal so I won’t comment on them. But it seems they are mostly upperclassmen.
All of this is to say, we have a lot of developing to do, as long as we can hang on to the young guys. I am just saying, all of the local talent we recruit will not pay dividends for a while. Meanwhile, we are recruiting the portal for most of our starters.
Teams like Houston will capitalize off the portal.
Heck, Chambliss with Ole Miss was a D2 athlete before getting noticed. A&M ‘s top receivers for 2025 were at other universities in 2024. Craver and Concepcion.
I think CWF is building something special here and UH will be a powerhouse by 2030. And the best thing about it is we can do it all quietly and on no one’s radar.
Coach Cristobal said it in his post game interview. Mass kicks ass. There is part of the strategy.

Thanks for not reading my entire post.
Only partially true.
Their Heisman winner and MVP of yesterday’s game is making $2 million in NIL thanks to Mark Cuban.
Cuban is also paying much of the coaching staff’s salaries, ensuring that Cignetti retains his top assistants.
Whether anyone here wants to acknowledge the impact of that or not is irrelevant, but that DOES have an impact.
We need a comparable sugar daddy to be able to do the same. Maybe Tilman will be the guy.
