Injury updates and a cringeworthy Art Briles reference

It is far, far than just weight. Wrestling techniques are huge positives for any lineman. Hardwick was a center for the San Diego Chargers. We often talked and kept bringing this up. He actually mentioned that obviously technique can overcome weight. This is where I have been most critical…so far.
I bring up Mr. Paul often. IMO he is not near where he should be at the moment. He has got to improve for the remainder of the season.

Technique can be taught though.

Weight gaining and muscle building potential, by contrast, are generally limited by genetics.

A person with a heavy bone structure (look at their ankles, wrists, and neck for an indication) generally has better genetics for that potential than the opposite.

That’s why, for an o-line prospect…small ankles are about the LAST thing I’d want to see!!

Omgoodness……I just stated I was not comparing him to ANY coach at all….

It was only about last season because you continue to refer to it on a level it was not worthy of……I said I was happy for the kids….they played as a team and also had some great individual performances as proven by those in the NFL this year.

Why on earth would I compare him to Briles? Especially after I made it clear I was not going to do so with ANY COACH……good grief

Not only. Have you ever heard of creatine? Guys gaining 30 or even 50 lbs over time with additional diets, supplements and so forth? I have seen it first hand in the nfl.
College programs spend $M’s with this in mind.

Bottom line though. It was better than ANY Briles season here.

And given that…it’s pretty silly that that guy seemed to imply that Briles would be a better model to follow.

Steroids too I’m sure.

The biggest issue that I have had with CDH is our OL progress. This has been a constant issue season after season.
It is clearly an area among others that the opposition is focusing on. Granted you always do but we have been dominated by AAC teams too. This is/has not been limited against P5 opposition.

IF, we had Art & Kendal Briles, we would destroy the B12! Anyone ever hear of “FORGIVENESS”?

Has anyone heard of actions have consequences?

There’s a reason he’s been “blackballed” by the college and North American pro football world.

Any program that hired him would automatically become an “outlaw” program and social pariah.

People are always saying they don’t want “coach speak” and want straight forward honest answers. Yet, when they get such answers, they just can’t handle it. Of course, there are those on here that look for anything and everything they can make into an anti-CDH moment.

Just sayin"

In case anyone cares, Briles just coached an Italian pro football team (Guelfi Firenze) to the Italian League championship.

Probably a good place for him.

I thought Dana’s answer to the re-worded question was really good. Gave an example of a 6’6" guy who they thought could add weight, talked about shorter and heavier guys with enough athleticism, and said the O-line is something they need to get better. The quote some will not like is when he said 4-5 of the current players need to stay at the G5 level. That is the brutal honesty some don’t like but is the truth.

I hope that we can recruit enough “P5” players to replace them and get us to the next level then.

Our blue print going forward is a dual threat that can throw or a quick release qb that can run some like case. Tune could be that if they let him run and do more short routes to get the ball out.

Briles was a great football coach. The Baylor thing was an institutional thing at Baylor. He should be allowed to coach again

No one in the North American college or pro football business thinks so.

As I said, any program that hires him will quickly become America’s most hated program. I doubt that’s the type of publicity or reputation that UH wants.

The CFL and Grambling tried and on both occasions, it resulted in a BACKLASH.

I am certain that Renu won’t go there.

BY had dual threat qbs. Case was like a dual threat. Ward was a dual threat. Again unleash tune since it’s his last yr. Going forward coley could be our next dual threat.

Hummmmm
I am interested to have a highly accurate passer.
Andre and David were great too. They were both dominating QB’s with a clear, concise, well defined offense.
I have yet to see our full offense identity.
Remember one clear fact friends:
Mr. Jenkins achieved a 10-1 record while on probation. He did it with a reduced scholarships squad I believe. He did it while everybody was kicking us in the lower abdomen. Speak about over achieving. Sure the wheels fell off shortly after but he still achieved a 10-1 season with supposely a meaningless squad.
A dominant squad starts with a team’s attitude. That is all I am asking for.
