Well it seems like it’s going well so far. Iran chucked some missiles and Israel is planning to retaliate.
Was it ever a ceasefire?
Or are we at the point of…
Looks like things have settled down with the ceasefire. Hopefully it stays that way.
No doubt the NATO meeting will include discussions of Israel-Iran.
I am all for stability
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
I heard we dropped a F bomb today
Hmm I’m not a military genius or anything, but if you saber rattle for like a week and half people tend to move the important stuff that can be moved and since its been like 8 years since the last agreement was torn up probably enough time to procure some redundancies into the your system
Initial Israeli damage assessments have also raised questions of the effectiveness of the strikes. Israeli defense officials said they have also collected evidence that the underground facilities at Fordo were not destroyed.
Really? We struck almost “all of their generals, scientists, and artillery” while only targeting nuclear facilities?
That’s dillusional.
No, that’s not what I was saying, but let me clarify. Israel took out the generals, nuclear scientists, and artillery. We came in to take out nuclear threats. We stand with Israel to reduce the threat to them and the rest of the world.
They took out some of the generals and lead scientists, but probably not enough
to 100% stop enrichment ambitions.
It’s going to take on-site inspections to determine the status of the nuclear
enrichment centers. How that is achieved is the question. Military boots on ground or a cooperative Iran state ?
Since we are dealing with a theocracy that seems to have great support among its
citizens (?), the calculus is bit different. They may view this whole thing as a holy war and all bets on what we consider rational responses are off the table.
There seems to be disagreement on what the term “obliterate” means
There is a lot of mis/disinformation out there right now…
Better to stand back and let the smoke clear…
I agree. We telegraphed the strike, gave them time to move material, we hit the sites, claimed victory and now both US ans Israeli intel says it may just be a set back for Iran. Isreal did take out scientists and generals but likely not all and they do have allies who may help with the process like Pakistan, Russia and NK.
At the moment it feels very “Mission Acomplished”, and we know how that played out. I agree, lets see what the next few weeks bring
Hopefully, peace…
But humans on all continents don’t have the best track record of that…
Iran would be stupid to break the cease fire. We’ll see if either side forces the issue
It’s just a situation where every post involved has very vested interest in lying. If you’re Israel/US this level of escalation really needs to be “total obliteration”, “down the drain”, “setback many years”. Otherwise it’s a reckless act. Iran on the other side had a vested interest in saying the opposite otherwise they look incredibly vulnerable and weak.
Or they are trying to scare Iran into not wanting future bombings on their facilities
“We obliterated those 3 nuclear facilities, but if you attack Israel again, it will be much worse”
They may honor the ceasefire to get their air defenses back up and increase
their inventory of drones and missiles, unless those factories are all in ruins already. Can those weapons be smuggled in via Russia, Pakistan, or NK ? It also gives them time to start recovery efforts for nuclear development.
The cease fire needs to not be too long and they have to submit to on-site
inspections or round 2 starts up.
Having gone this far, seems like you have to go all the way, and not just call it
an “all clear” mission accomplished moment. Or maybe that’s the political card you play if you want to wash your hands of it.
