Iran-Israel ceasefire

Botched is probably going a bit too far.

No question a good deal of damage was done.

How long that’ll set back Iran’s nuclear program remains to be seen.

He ignored the question about Isreali intel saying the same thing, being skeptical.

He and Hegseth added credibility to the report, thus is can’t be fake or a debunked report.

This is yet another self created mess. All that had to be said was “We are doing an assessment and it may be severe, we dont know yet” but instead they are doubling on "Obliteration " without proof. Yes. I hope its obliterated but I am skeptical.

Side bets?

Umm, there are huge questions about how much damage was done.

If it only sets them back a few months is that still a “good deal of damage”? (No firm proof of that just speculative reports)

Iran must develop nuclear weapons. Israel and the US have made that clear.

T_ump isn’t very good at poker. He just revealed that he made the whole ‘total destruction’ thing up.

I somehow doubt that Iran would have folded its hand so quickly and agreed to a cease fire unless significant damage had been done.

Only time will tell just how significant.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Exactly… one site says it was only a flesh wound and another says part of the mountain was blown off…

Iran quickly folded.

Either great damage was done, or Iran decided there could be more strikes which would cause great damage because we learned from Saturday’s bombings. Just like we did in WWII.

Next up is Revolution. Hopefully.

I wonder when the Harvard students will do a rally for poor Iran?

Some of us were never isolationists.

In my case, far from it.

Here’s the reality.

If the USA doesn’t intervene abroad, then you can be sure of only ONE thing: SOMEBODY ELSE WILL.

And it may be somebody whose interests are averse to ours and somebody whose intervention will produce outcomes averse to US interests.

Given that……

I choose intervention!

And you believe we should ignore congress amd their role. We were not directly attacked by Iran, permission to attack should go through Congress this administration has control of the house and senate, yet, they ignored the constitution. Your good with?

You dont need to answer we already know

“I am the law (like Judge Dredd) look at all my degrees, I have never lost an argument”.

NYC did a pro-Iran, anti-USA rally already…

By voting for Zohran?

No… they’ve had multiple pro-Iran protests since the 12 Day War started…

Its real simple, don’t declare absolute victory before even assessing the danage. That was just bush league and now we see the consequences

Only Congress has the power to formally declare war.

However, it is widely acknowledged that a President can order use of military force without such a declaration, and moreover, that only the President can order troops into action.

Most Presidents during my lifetime have done so. B*den ordered air strikes in Iraq and Syria. Obama started up a US military intervention in Libya, and another against ISIS.

Reagan invaded Grenada. That act is now celebrated as a sort of national holiday in that country.

Clinton used a threat of invasion to remove Raoul Cedras in Haiti, and started up wars in Bosnia and Kosovo; he also bombed Southern Iraq.

The War Powers Resolution of 1973 is widely regarded as unconstitutional.

Nearly administration since it was passed has ignored it.

Historically, John Adams fought an undeclared war with France.

US forces helped crush the Boxer Rebellion in China.

And insurgencies in the Philippines.

Many interventions in Latin America have also taken place.

US forces fought the Red Army in the Russian Civil War.

The US Navy showed up with force to open up Japan in the 1800s.

Foreign military intervention is an American institution.

It’s our legacy.

It’s the norm.

What consequences?

The Ayatollahs being PO’d?

They were already that way.

Consequences? If a cease fire between Iran and Israel is the consequence, I can definitely live with that.

The consequences of proving that the first statement was just proprganda. The consequences of knowing the job isn’t done but we’re in a cease fire. The consequences of knowing we don’t actually follow the intelligence.

lol, Anything to make someone look bad, its like over on the EV thread.

The truth matters. Lies distort everything and when we get lies all the time, important things get distorted. We have to be honest at the highest job in the land. The consequences are evident

Can you say definitely that it ISN’T true?

I doubt it.

For that matter, I can’t say definitely that it is.

That doesn’t exactly amount to “propaganda.”
