If resale ticket prices are an indicator it will be similar or lower than SFA, it started stronger but has slowed down considerably…
11-22
Why?
Why are doing this?
We’re 5-1 and control our destiny. If the attendance is bad, It’s a reflection of the fan base, not the team…
It’s a reflection on the people who don’t come, not the “fan base.” The fan base will be there like always - the problem is that the “base” doesn’t have enough fans.
And unfortunately, the fact of the matter is that losing to Tech will hurt attendance in this game, so the team played a part in this, fair or not.
But I tire of having people who don’t go to the games complaining about how the crowd looks on TV.
Been that way forever with attendance
25 years in sports purgatory didn’t help… but we’re moving forward now baby!!!
Enjoy!
Lucky to have 25,000 including students. Our fan base sucks.
Lot of you need to go touch grass, obviously 80k in attendance
It is threads like this that reinforces that we will not expand the stadium this decade.
9000 is a great number. Forgive my ignorance, but isn’t that ~1/4 of capacity?
I’m thinking that we announce ~30K (re: tickets sold & students) but that we actually have ~25K folks in the stands.
I don’t think football is being marketed that well at the moment. You really have to be plugged in to know what’s going on with UH. The Tech game was marketed pretty much since the beginning of the season, but given we lost the way we did it seemed to just knock out all hype.
However, we aren’t really getting a lot of help from the networks either.
UH Football right now is in this weird place where we clearly have a great record, yet we aren’t really cared about. It’s like we’re invisible despite hanging on to the top 5 in the Big 12 standings
Pretty close to 1/4 of capacity. The endzone upgrade reduced actual total seats little bit. Not sure what the max is now. As far as student attendance go, I don’t recall having 9-10k students often. Hope they keep it up.
No, it won’t.
Maybe he can do another poll and then tell us how crappy our fans are.
Crappy pics but this was Tulsa in 2016 the week after losing to Navy and with Herman rumors starting up. We can get back to this.
Yeah, that tends to happen with our fanbase…
Our mentality is: Prove it to me first that you can beat a $55M roster in TxTech whilst wearing the nice, blue unis under a sold-out home stadium, and then I’ll believe in you.
I think its hard to sell the Football program right now because there is no clear “star”/“face of the program”.
In the past we’ve had Case Keenum, Greg Ward, Jr. (and Tom Herman), Ed Oliver, D’Eriq King…since then there hasn’t been a player (or Coach) to reach those heights, while at the same time, winning big.
CWF might be a “program builder”, but he’s not exaclty a media darling. It’s hard to get excited with him the way it was with Tom “cheek-kisser” Herman. Herman played into the media & knew how to manipulate it to his advantage. CKS also has a little bit of this, too…haven’t seen that from Fritz.
Lastly - we’ve played no one (so far), aside from Tech, and it was clear that we didn’t belong on the field with them from the start, despite our Defense doing all it could to keep us in the game during the 1st Half.
We’re 5-1 against a really bad (and transitioning playstyle & HC) Rice, an insignificant SFA and 2 historically bad OSUs (1 of which out-played us).
Our only “good” win was against Colorado, and they started an inexperienced Freshman at QB.
The coming series of games are likely gonna be the most challenging (outside of the Tech game) & will tell us (and the media) what we really are as a team…
and maybe someone will rise as the next star/face of the program…until they’re tempted by the Tran$fer Portal
It’s all about season tickets. You have to kick butt selling season tickets in the offseason and that is what ultimately keeps butts in the stands. You cannot try to sell 20,000 walk up tickets each home game
