The original electors …the founders wanted them to be representatives of local populations that would vote their own concience and decide who should be president. That way people wouldn’t have to blindly vote for someone they have extremely limited information on. Not a bad system actually.
Thing is…it hasn’t operated like that since political parties took over (and how long has that been? Answer: Longer than you’ve been alive & that applies to everyone on the planet).
Now, electors are tied to a candidate with some states having legal consequences for those who do. Even before this ruling ( Supreme Court rules 'faithless electors' can't go rogue at Electoral College )only 165 electors had gone rogue in 59 elections). So, its basically just a stupid number game that gives more voting power to people living in smaller states…that is NOT what the founders envisioned for POTUS. That’s why they created the house & senate, not the electors.
Almost verbatim from a campaign rally. Wonder why?

So do you also think Bob Menendez was convicted in a rigged trial because of the corrupt DOJ? How about those charges against the retired NYPD Chiefs, are they being railroaded by the corrupt DOJ? What about the corrupt DOJ’s arrest of El Mayo of the Sinaloa Cartel, I bet that can’t be trusted either? What about that Pakistani charged with plotting a terrorist attack in NYC, I bet Biden’s cronies just made it up that he was an Isis supporter.
In fact, there wasn’t one view on it from the ‘founders’…it was a compromise…surely you’ve heard of it…maybe 3/5th of you have.
One group didn’t want congress involved, at all.
One group didn’t want the people doing it directly, because of the exact reason I gave above. In fact, at the time no other country directly elected their executive!
Out of the back and forth over it came the 3/5ths compromise…with the number of electors for each state being # of congressmen + senators for each state…as an easy attempt to balance out electors.
They did not envision the way the EC has developed with political parties. It’s nothing like what they hoped and should be tossed aside. I bet a million mypillows that the founders would choose straight popular vote over the EC had they had communication anywhere near to what we have today.
Why’s that you ask (lol…you don’t ask actual questions or care about actual facts)? Because NONE of the states the founders were part of chose to elect their executives by electors. In fact, none of them even considered it.
The founders had zero trust in the government long term nor did they trust people to make a good choice. Even with modern communication the above is still true.
Bringing up the inhuman 3/5ths rule with zero understanding is par for course with you.
