Italy summer tour/Exhibition games Updated

Goesling was never going to shooter at this level and quite honestly had to be wide open to make a three with his release. What he did very well was get to the hole and finish. Many other UH teams he would have played a lot of min.
So far Tyson is adjusting. I think he will be a situational player in the future and those are the type of players that work best for 11-13 off the bench.
As for Mills I think people are expecting a scorer and a good shooter. I think we will get that and someone who will improve each season.

There were a few games last year where someone like Cameron Tyson could’ve came in handy, and yes, if he is our best shooter next year, you have to find minutes for him as someone who could stretch the floor. My complain with @pesik was that he said everyone thought that Goesling was going to come here and be a great shooter. No one was saying that, we where all hoping he could replace the production we had lost with Antoine Davis. He only shot 37.1 as a junior against Div 2 competition. Tyson shot at a great rate at 42.9 on 7 attempts. CKS will put him in a great situation to succeed.

Where did pesik say everyone thought goesling was going to be a great shooter

Edit. Oh I see it

Ok. But sunshine played FOR that great D2 school, not against them. Tyson played FOR that awful D1 school, not against them.

Everyone in their conference is awful… they aren’t bottom feeder in a great conference

Also here is the Landon commitment thread if you go through it you will see a lot of people touting him as a great add as a 3pt shooter

Including the some of the exact same people saying the opposite now

Some stereotyping with comparisons of him to WVB but it was obvious very early on he was not that type of shooter.

Funny to read where public opinion on Galen was last offseason. Big ups to Galen for having a great senior yr.

I was just thinking about the beginning of the 2017-18 season. We had a lot of new talent and I was not sold at all on Galen, WVB, and most of the other upperclassmen. Basically I was sick of the NIT and wanted to make the dance and IMO the more new faces that were starting and getting minutes (besides Rob) the better.

It’s very easy to forget Corey was thought of as a PG when he first came in, probably due to his size. He was battling Galen for minutes. It took time for the rotation to work itself out that year with the new faces. We lost to Drexel early largely because of rotation issues.

I think with Armoni blindsiding us a bit (not down on him do what you gotta do he’s a forever Coog) this year is going to have some 2017-18 figuring out the rotation time. I think the overall talent to choose from is a lot higher this season, the main ingredient we’re missing is leadership.

I also regret doubting Galen. He came up huge his last 2 seasons, played to his strengths, took care of the ball, and showed great leadership. A quintessential Sampson PG. Everytime we started getting a little helter skelter sloppy last year I’d say to myself “get in there and calm them down Galen.”

Don’t know if y’all saw this but the Dejon alley oop was the either number 1 or 2 play on SC

Nice. Always good to get a little publicity early on.

Deeky was “under the weather” AKA CKS knows Deeky is gonna tear it up this year and is holding him back from putting the country on notice before the season starts.

That’s my story I like it.

Can’t wait to see what a Deeky, Grimes & Hinton lineup looks like.
