I know the only time I listen to broadcast radio these days is for Cougar sports.
It doesn’t matter the quality of the content - there’s so many commercials I ain’t listening
For me, I have sattelite radio so that was the main reason I stopped with broadcast. The other is I don’t spend near as much time in my car as I once did and that’s where I mostly listen.
Well, as a guy with an hour plus commute each way daily, I listen to my radio a lot.
HOWEVER, it’s usually pre-recorded “achived” radio shows from my undergrad college radio station (91.1 FM - WRUW in Cleveland).
I also listen to sports broadcasts on AM and to NPR for news on FM.
Podcasts and audio books on my 45min commute
i still do radio. i’d rather read a book than listen to podcast and audio books. currently trying to acquire a set on the encyclopedia of mathematics; that’s not something you can get on a audiobook.
I listen to broadcast radio every day.
NPR in the morning, occasionally at lunch and often on the drive home. And various times throughout the day on the weekends.
KTSU on Friday mornings.
KPFT on the weekends.
Occasionally tune in for Astros baseball.
Cougar football and basketball if I’m in the car and can’t watch on TV (road games only, of course.)
I’d rather go to a concert or sporting event than listen to the radio
Being a geezer and old school, I listen to local country FM stations and various seriusxm stations (60s/70s R&R) when driving around and when on the tractor through noise cancelling headphones. I like to listen to music rather than bla bla bla. There are no sport talk shows covering the Coogs where I live.
I don’t listen much but I do always enjoy the blues shows on Sundays. Going to tune in now.
I don’t know that there are any where I live either, and I’m not far from the Galleria. ![]()
I’m a traffic anchor so yes I listen to myself
although I also subscribe to and enjoy Sirius. The commercials are heavy no doubting that on terrestrial AM (what’s left) & FM. I do enjoy the variety of the IHeart app and you can even find commercial free stations on that app as well.
I started streaming music several years ago. It’s so much freaking better than radio. No ads. I can hear any song in the world anytime I want.
AM/FM radio is the new horse and buggy.
SiriusXM is my radio of choice, lately I’ve enjoyed listening to the music stations of Leon Bridges and Michael Kiwanuka.
Also, despite popular opinion, I enjoy local AM sports radio.
KPFT has a good “Irish Aires” radio show.
Here’s the thing though.
The way that they define “digital,” all the WRUW and KPFT shows I listen to would fall under “digital,” even though they originate on “broadcast.”
The shows are archived and I listen to them in my car through my phone.
I think that the numbers would be different if everything that starts in AM/FM were counted as such.
