Javier Francis in the portal

I’ve had a couple of friends texting me, asking why Javier Francis entered the portal and I can only Google the answer that he is hoping for a more lenient NCAA decision on another year. Thoughts?

I believe that’s it.

Francis played all four years at UH, never redshirting. I wonder what the basis would be to petition the NCAA to grant him another year of eligibility? With as illogical as the NCAA is with their decisions, I would not rule out a decision in his favor.

Francis knows he is not an NBA prospect so perhaps he is attempting one last NIL payday. Given Francis continued development over the years and having Sampson as his head coach, Francis has value and may be an attractive option for a team. Francis knows what a winning culture looks like. That alone should have teams forming a line outside Francis’ door.

Does he get a COVID year?

No J’Wan and LJ were the last COVID year players in our ranks.

Yeah Francis right now is out of eligibility, he’s in the portal because there’s a chance of a rule change granting him and others extra eligibility and that we’ve recruited with the expectation that this was his last year.

Francis bout to make some $$$ in China.

They’re gonna love those huge dunks over there!

Speaking of China, someone brought up Kenneth Lofton in another thread, I googled and he’s playing in China now, killing it there and estimated to be making 2 million a year.

If a blanket 5th year gets approved for all athletes, could/would we try to bring him back?

I think there’s only one scholly left for Uzan if he returns but if they both returned then he could play not on scholly as there isn’t a roster limitation, as I understand, from reading posts here…

Someone will either confirm or correct me…

The NBA doesn’t know who will be any good or not. The broken system of determining that needs fixing. Every year teams fall flat with draft picks. So far NBA best option is practicing insanity.

I still wonder how much of a MONSTER that dude woulda been here under CKS’s system, but it is what it is, and it’s gonna be what it’s gonna be :man_shrugging:t4:

That pic reminds me of myself back during my old hardtop days. Just to be clear, I’m referring to the guy getting dunked on.

If he wanted another year of college, I don’t understand why CKS would not want to keep him.

IMHO, he was the most improved player on our team last year !! And he got better as the season wore on.

When you say China, do you mean Communist China or Taiwan? I don’t think I would want to play in communist China.

Though Communist China can be rigid with their requirements, playing there is not a problem. Good crowds, beautiful cities, clean, no homeless (because the government won’t allow it) and the good looking women like to show off in micro skirts. It can be an attractive place with money for a honey, However, start chanting some anti-china rhetoric your arse will be in jail.

The Peoples Republic of China, a/k/a Communist China, has professional basketball teams and its own league. They limit the number of foreign players on rosters to four, only one of which, can be on the court at a time.

A number of U.S. players have played in China, such as Tracy McGrady, Gilbert Arenas, Stephon Marbury, Stevie Francis.

2 million is 2 million

2 million isn’t always 2 million.

2 million yuan is only 277,000 dollars… so if you’re making 2 million in China and they give you a choice, choose dollars, not yuan.
