Man, all I’m keep hearing from the naysayers is how Coach Jenkins is too old to coach or how his system is too outdated, but listening to him speak I feel confident he still could coach for another 12-15 years if somebody gives him the opportunity to do so! Not only is he still looks sharp and fit physically, but he is also extremely sharp and knowledgable in the game of football still! He would make Mr RedBull look old, outdated, and dumb if the two of them are placed at the same table to discuss their strategies for the game!

Jenkins was a great OC back in his day and I’m not an advocate of bringing him back to UH in any significant capacity, but…

Man, I get FIRED UP just listening him talk ball!

To this day, we have never seen a more exciting Offense…it was truly unbelievable. I only wish younger Coogs could have seen these games…
600 yards in total offense ? Sure…
7 TD passes was a usual Saturday…

And…Jenks has been a Major donor to UH Athletics.
I admire him as a player (Arkie), Coach, and friend to UH.

Man, I’m fired up listening to Coach Jenkins. Quite a change from the previous coach at UH. Forgot his name already.

Its weird no other college tried to hire him as a OC after he was fired at UH.

I get your point and I wish I could have seen some of those games but watching the Keenum led Coogs had that same expectation.

would love to see us use him in some capacity…he is a goldmine of offensive football knowledge.

I know what you are saying…Case was unbelievable. Down by 4 with one minute left, we get the ball, and Case takes us down the field for a win. He did it time and time again…he is one of the very best…

But Jenks literally ran other teams into the ground. You have not lived…until you see our guys blow out TU, and seeing the TU defensive backs on the sidelines barfing their guts out on national tv…

Beautiful.

Once, back in the day, “Hoss” was being interviewed by a TV reporter . The reporter said aren’t you afraid your offense is getting old and outdated ? Hoss said,"Man I still have plays I have not run yet stored in a cardboard box, in my attic "!
Coach was the best in the game.
I was there on the last day when he was leaving his office.I said goodby as he walked out of the building. What a loss to UH FB !
Hoss remains one of a kind !

Those who fired him had no guts and deserved what they got from Helton. The very fact that our then admin wanted to extinguish our football program speaks volume.
Mr. John Jenkins was and has always been the Run N Shoot. Who knows how many National Championships we would have won with a full roster and no probation.
Has anyone thought if Mr. John Jenkins was in charge today with the NIL?
We would be a dynasty. There is no question about it. Nobody could stop us.

He had offers but stayed with the cfl as a scout as it was much more conducive to family life.

No way in Hell anyone would hire him after he showed boobies in the film room!!! That’s unforgivable in today’s world.

Jenkins brings back great memories but anyone with a defense shut us down. aTm had our number and out of conference teams that played football demolished us.

But it was fun to be king of the mole hill.

Anyone with an offense scored on us. I remember some games being 4 hour shootouts and the last team to score won.

He suffered from scholarship limits imposed due to end of Yeoman’s era. Never had a full roster.

Helton did, and we saw the results.

Jenkins could have been great. Our program died after Jugular left.

That’s true. Hoss was not a great head coach. He was, however, incredibly fun as an OC. It worked great to have a solid, even-keeled mature pro like Jack Pardee as head coach and a crazy wild-eyed guy running radical unseen things on offense. Great combination.

I see CWF as being cut out of the same cloth as Jack Pardee. Solid, well-rounded, mature football guy. He’s the sort of head coach that can hire an OC to run “out of the box” stuff on offense
