JoJo Tugler

We got to go back to this silly debate but we measure players with shoes off. That’s why our heights are always smaller than other teams. We don’t play basketball without shoes so he will be 6’7 on the court. Having a player like JoJo at the 4 is ideal, that’s why Sampson got him

Yes sir……nailed it.

It’s not as though there are a bunch of skilled PF’s that are 6’9”, 6’10”.

As long as he is strong enough to hold his base he can play PF easily….an inch or two is not a big deal, especially with that wingspan.

I’m not comparing him to Chuck Barkley ( so the haters can relax) but that man is one of the best PF to ever play and he did it at 6’4” and yes that is his height barefoot.

Not being snarky here….but why do you think he will be less valuable or can’t play PF because he is TWO inches shorter than you thought he would be?

Just curious your reasoning.

It’s because he has primarily played C, to this point. Does he have the necessary skill to make an immediate impact playing the 3 or 4? We shall see.

Hhmm.

Seemed like from your first post you were just concerned with his height and not playability….

His height is fine.

I never envisioned Tugler spending any time at the 5.

He’s also starting to move his game farther from the paint.

He’s going to be a good 4 for us.

I’m worried that he’s going to be undersized, height wise, as a C. Will he have to play 3 or 4 and is his skill set solid enough, if he does have to play those positions?

you need to watch his film. he has a outside shot.

I’ve seen it. Does that translate to the college level?

It’s a work in process right now.

But it’s more developed than J’Wan. Which is a good sign for his future trajectory.

What do you mean here? He needs to improve. And he will. A lot of his game is based around him being bigger, stronger, more athletic than the guys he plays against. It won’t be that way in college. He will need to refine other parts of his game.

He has the potential to have a really good face up game. Where he can pull up from 15 or take you off of the dribble.

He’ll be a hell of a rebounder for us. Offensive, for sure.

Not to overhype but I am thinking Tugler will have a “Drexler” role for us.

Good shooting and rebounding, fast break ability, etc.

Unfortunately we have no Hakeem. Not even a “Mr. Mean”.

Is Roberts going to be Mr. Mean next season? Maybe? Rebounding is more about boxing out than it is pure height. Roberts is a good rebounder.

Its like we expect a guy to stay the same as he was in High School

I’m just saying some guys are great shooters in HS, but that doesn’t translate to college. Not questioning his hustle or athletic ability.

im not sure it is more developed than jwan… jwan was shooting tons of 3s in high school, youd be surprised how much shooting jwan did in high school… tugler shot 3s but it was a once every blue moon kinda thing (and this is with the High school line)

He is CKS kind of player. Very good on defense, Very good rebounding. Very good hustling for lose balls. Top player in the Houston area.
