Jontay Porter

Does anyone think a Jontay Porter situation could not happen in college? I am sure it is happening right now in multiple places.

I doubt it.

There are lots of eyes looking for irregularities in betting….from the casino books, online books and NBA and NCAA….oh, and the gaming commission.

It could happen. Player props are still available on sportsbooks despite the NCAA’s opposition to them. You would have to be as foolish and obvious as Jontay Porter to get caught though.

If you don’t get greedy, college basketball would be the easiest game to fix. Now that they are providing odds for college baseball, how ridiculously easy to fix.

The Alabama baseball coach says howdy :cowboy_hat_face:

Baseball has to be messed with by a pitcher or a head coach.

Nobody in the lineup can guarantee anything….surely there are no books taking prop bets on college baseball.

I don’t doubt someone is dumb enough to try but succeeding is an entire different ballgame.

If you can fix a World Series you can fix a college baseball game.

Get to the starting pitcher and closer. Don’t throw all of your games. Every few starts.

The World Series was over a HUNDRED years ago 51, common buddy.

And if you are talking about college baseball it’s even less of a chance….a coach has so many pitchers at their discretion they don’t have to stay with the starter very long.

And you can’t control how well the compromised pitcher’s team hits the other guy….

Too many external factors….

College kids on partial scholarships? Please. My mother could fix a college baseball game. She is dead by the way so if you are trying to pin it on her…

Not sure what kind of meds you’re on today 51, but they must be pretty good. :+1:

Well just have to disagree because you are in a galaxy far away on this one buddy.

You don’t think a college baseball game could be fixed? Seriously?

No, I think they would get caught.

Maybe because I’ve been around it my entire life but it’s so easy to spot a guy not doing his best….all these guys have baselines of what they can and can’t do……it’s not just going out and saying I had a bad outing.

Plus, like I said….if it were any amount of money at all that was bet someone will pick up on it.

If you don’t get greedy…maybe you get to the coach who feels like he is about to be fired.

Come on this is kids stuff.

They didn’t even wear shoes back then.

Coach pulled our 6’8” pitcher Sunday before the HR derby … lol

Its happened a number of times in college basketball over the years most recently Tulane shut their program down in the late 80’s because of a point shaving scandal.

Temple had issues this year playing “several games with unusual betting patterns”
