I am not debating he is better than Applewhite. I am debating is he worth the money and will he really bring championship football.

He does sound like a solid coach, but the G2 is that he ain’t interested.
I have no idea if that is correct, but I read it on this board, so it has to be SOLID information !

Not the end all, but his recruiting classes over the last 3-4 year have fluctuated between the mid-high 30s and low-mid 50s. Current roster has about 1/2 the players from WV, Maryland, VA, etc type states and the rest from CA, FL, TX, OH, PA, and SEC country. Also looks like an average of maybe 2-3 4 stars a year. Did not see any 5 stars but could have easily missed that. Lots of 3 stars it seemed.
With so many pro-Herman people on this board, let’s start comparing Dana (or whomever) to Tom. Apple’s bar was Tom. He was not capable of measuring up. I think we can all agree on that. So if we truly want to return to that level, let’s hold the new coach, regardless of who it turns out to be, to the same bar. No excuses. No complaints. Just get it done or be gone.

I’ve got serious doubts about Hokgerson based on his past performance of taking off toward the end of the year and terrible bowl record. If he is the choice, UH better invest a !it of money on an elite DC and defensive staff.
I do like the fact that Dana could tell recruits that he chose UH over P5.
I just hope we are doing our due diligence because our options seem much better than two years ago. Shoot, both Larry Fedora and Meek Richt are looking for jobs.

I am on the fence about Dana. Hope that if he is chosen, he does great though. Like with Apple, I’ll give him my full support and try to be positive about the job he is doing regardless of the results/circumstances. Think Dana or Brown are the most likely that are current HCs. We’ll hopefully know tomorrow. Might be great for it to come out in the middle of the LSU-UCF game.
Not a fan of Fedora. Probably based on all the bad things my family (Mom & Pop are big USM boosters) say about him. I am sure there is some sour grapes mixed up in there though

Think Richt is taking some time off to spend watching his kid play. May or may not get back into coaching. Still pretty young. I bet he coaches again. Hard to get that desire to compete out of your blood.

Dana went through quite a transition from an air raid/one back offense with no talent to a RPO with lots of talent on offense. Defense got stronger with the addition of Gibson as DC. I think the DC was instrumental in offensive changes. Dana runs more than he throws.
Yes they tend to weaken late the season due to a continued lack of depth. Really tough to recruit to Meth Valley.
I think he can do great here.

WVU was within three of OU this year.
After the last search, I’m not too encouraged. Herman was a coup but was willing to leave after one year.
I think the right program and situation matter a lot for a head coach. I’m quite confident that Dana is just as competent is Lincoln Riley or Josh Huepel.
Head coaches since 2012 that have beaten OU: Nick Saban, Tom Herman, Bill Snyder, Brian Kelly, Art Briles, Kirby Smart, Matt Campbell, Urban Meyer, Dabo Sweeny, Charlie Strong, Mike Gundy, Gary Patterson.
Of that list the only coaches available are Briles and Snyder, we all know why neither is gonna happen. The only other one we could maybe lure away is Strong and he did worse at UT than Dana did at WVU. Not beating OU doesn’t mean a thing
