My old boss :), big ups K.C.

Interesting hire. Congratulations KC

Has he been a coach anywhere?

Nope, that’s why I thought this was a very interesting hire.

The writeup says he was an assistant coach for a few seasons at West Texas A&M and Pacific, roughly ten years ago. Most of his experience is as video coordinator though.

I think this is another instance of “if Coach Sampson is happy, I’m happy.” Coach has a pretty good idea of what he’s looking for at this point in his career, and KC is a well known commodity for Coach Sampson.

Wasn’t he the lead recruiter on sharp?

Doesn’t he break down game film and didn’t he do that in the NBA also? I would think those two things are important. The Little experience in coaching players is a problem but the fact he’s getting a shot being a video coordinator is kinda cool. I wonder who fills his position

Erik Spoelstra has a somewhat similar background fwiw.

Many start their careers breaking down film for the Coaches. He’s done it for 10 yrs. Former Coach for Rockets just recently inducted into the HOF – Rudy T started as video coordinator n from there went into as an Asst Coaching position then from there into Rocket’s :rocket: lore.

There is nothing about is resume that indicates he is not qualified to be an assistant coach. He will be our 3rd assistant and just played a key role for a Final Four team.

A cog in the Maestro’s engine. Deliberate, loyal, and purposeful. Sampson marches onward and upward, lads. KS is like the UH version of Alexander the Great.

Sampson likes to keep hires in house or from his family tree (blood or basketball). Trust me on that.

This guy was a guest on one of the coach’s show this year.

He and CKS were very open about the fact that the “video coordinator” does a check of a lot more than break down film. It sounded like he was a pretty valuable assistant.

I tried to find a link to the coach’s shows for this year, but I can’t.

Yep. He’s said KCB has been a “jack of all trades” type, so this transition in-house will be seamless IMO.
