look as much as we enjoy ut getting embarrassed at home, we really need both him to at least have modest success in austin. if major does great things here and herman stumbles in austin they will just come for Major.
I would like to keep a coach for a few years 5 or 6 would be nice…

Nope, if Herman fails immediately, they will not come back to the same well… Plus, rumors are that Applewhite has been black listed up there
he has personnel issues due to a bad choice with a student assistant years ago
it’s ut, we all know those issues would disappear conveniently if they wanted to hie him…all he needs is more success here than cth and the noise will,start .

I just wish we could find a great coach that wants to stay and coach Houston. You would think that wouldn’t be too much to ask or hard to do but apparently it is these days.

Well said, T-Moar. Let’s see how MA does w/o TO and TH They posted a hellova 2-year record. TO’s D didn’t look all that good against the mighty Turtles, especially when you consider the talent level at whornsville. Whorns covet anyone they think they want.
But how does it work at tOSU which is the program he’s emulating?
I was surprised SMU dropped 30 on us and beat us, but for entirely different reasons.
This is the way I try to think about it. Would I be happier with 2 years of 9-4, two second tier bowl wins, no championships and a returning head coach or with 2 years of 11-2, one second tier and one NY6 bowl wins, 1 conference championship and a new coaching search? It’s a tough call but I think I’d rather have the type of seasons that has us search for a new coach because of the latter.

Like most things at ut and a$m (other than cash), it is most likely over rated.

We need to put an emphasis on hiring grad assistants from within our own football ranks. How many guys that played for UH from high school to graduation over the last 30 years have gone to be position coaches or coordinators at any FBS or FCS college? Jason Phillips, Clay Helton, … Right now we have two offensive and two defensive graduate assistants, none of them Cougars.
