This is just wild. Why are these two things next door to each other and why did anyone not realize it was a bad idea?

Insanity. Prayers for the coach that was hit.
I coach my son’s 9U team and can’t imagine what those kids are going through seeing that.
It looks to me they are at least 2,000+ feet apart and across FM 2855.
We have gun rights, which takes precedent over baseball in America.
Just goes to show you how irresponsible some shooters are. Reminiscent of
the Hot Wells shooting off 290 when guy doing work on a gun hit a guy in the parking lot. That victim didn’t survive.
Not sure of accuracy but was told the stray bullet actually was caused by someone hunting illegally and not from the gun range.
Okay, didn’t see that it wasn’t connected to the gun range.
Still, shooters or hunters are not very responsible here
Yeah, no excuse for that.
Well if he was hunting illegally they should be able to revoke his license for years, or forever, and keep the gun…
But people that hunt illegally aren’t really into conforming to laws…
Damn, that is horrible.
From the eyewitnesses’ accounts, the bullet came from a neighboring tract where people were just shooting, not from any gun range. I don’t know if I even buy the “illegal hunting” thing - I suspect it was a bunch of jackoffs out there drinking and shooting off automatic rifles.
There is some video of the incident that also sounds a lot more like a yee-haw shoot party than hunting of any kind.
WTF were they hunting this time of year in Katy?
The article I posted above has more on it.
“People shoot on their land all the time. At the time we were unaware of anything in season,” The Rac wrote in a Facebook comment. “Now that we have more information, we know that their were 3 individuals target practicing 600/700 yards away.”
Sounds like it was just stupidity.
Everyone ran for cover after they heard shots.
I’m sure these guys will get a hand slap fine.
Yes I didn’t either. I thought it was. And I thought it was still some sort of irresponsible behavior.
They should get more than that. This should be charged as “deadly conduct” and could be a felony, though that’s not a slam-dunk.
Knock-off tennis shoes
“nearby residents hunting on their property”, “recreational shooting on a nearby property”. None of the explanations matter. It was the shooters responsibility to be 100% certain that not one single bullet left their property. It wasn’t “Just a TERRIBLE accident”. It was about the same as someone shooting a gun into the air to celebrate New Year’s or the 4th of July.
Absolutely agree.
If they were drinking on a Sunday morning they are really screwed
up. Isn’t there a law about drinking and using firearms ? Hope Waller
Sheriffs office did a thorough investigation in evidence gathering.
Three suspects charged but names not released.
Through investigative efforts, the three suspects involved have been identified. Charges of Deadly Conduct and other related offenses are being pursued.
There is some facebook chatter of possibly 5 people initially involved, a photo
of the 3 guys, and some saying they are 18-21. Take that for what it’s worth.
I’m somewhat surprised the names have not been released.
