"We would try to have dinner as a family, and we’d sit down, and Kellen would say, ‘Mom, Dad said a bad word at practice today,’ " Kelvin said. "I would go, ‘Kellen, you can’t just come home and rat out your dad.’
“I look over and see my son, this young man doing a great job coaching, and I still see that little boy that would tell on me at the dinner table. It really is special to be able to coach with him.”
All I’ll say is that UH basketball is in better shape than it was in 1984. Anyone who had the slightest insight into the dynamics of the program at that time would honestly tell you that. I think the way it played out reflects that.
