Koziel UH draft

Rated 20th best TE, 6th Round by the Athletic. A little surprising… thought he would be earlier and still may be if just one of the teams love him.

Getting drafted in any round is awesome at the end of thr day…

I think TE’s are typically undervalued in the draft so that is part of what you are seeing.

Plus, once you get past round 3, where a player gets drafted gets very unpredictable. Koziol could easily go in round 4 or drop to round 7 depending on team needs. But I feel very confident he gets drafted. He won’t fall out of the draft.

Lance Zierlein’s write up on him is that he is a pretty good pass catcher, okay athlete, and bad run blocker by NFL draft TE standards and is likely a TE3 or special teamer. I am surprised he isn’t higher on lists due to his size and catching ability which can lead to mismatches on the field. Me thinks a smart team will likely draft him in rounds 4-6 and cater to his strengths. Don’t be surprised if he becomes a solid NFL TE with certain types of usage focus (try to keep him off the line with his hand on the ground)

Read somewhere that he ran a little slow on the 40 yard dash and didn’t attempt to put another time up during Pro day. That has to have some effect on his draft stock.

I think he proves them wrong and becomes a solid TE / receiver in The NFL.

Lsu still had a good defense loaded with highly ranked recruits and he was a difference maker. Without him, we don’t win that game.

He’s gonna prove them wrong.

Give me a player that has good production numbers vs a combine warrior any day. The combine fanatics say “that’s the standard response for players who do not measure well at the combine.”

My response is the graveyard is littered with combine warrior testing results.

Yes and that is why I think a smart team will draft him in the mid rounds with a plan to use him to his strengths. He has size, toughness, and proven catch ability (2nd in TE reception yards). Reminds me of a poor man’s Kelce in the passing game when I watched him frankly. No chance he is the 20th TE drafted

any chance we can edit the title to the player’s actual last name?

Blocking plays a much bigger part for TEs in the NFL. Non-blocking TEs are a dime a dozen
