Should Tech forfeit their game against us?
Sounds like Tech’s gonna have to forfeit
Court win for the NCAA. My immediate thought is I am glad Coach Fritz has withheld Johnson and Rowser, until there is clarity on their eligibility. If you play them in hopes of winning the court cases they are tied to, you are gambling with the entire season.
4-0!
Who is Casellanos?
Pecker techs ineligible qb who threw the interception on the first play of our game
Ah ha, so a misspelling then, should have known
He was the Texas Tech backup QB that came in for one play early in the game and promptly threw an interception to UH DB Will James.
The good news for Will James is even if Texas Tech forfeits the game, his interception will still count.
He has an appeal hearing next week, I bet he gets reinstated, either way i highly doubt TT forfeits the game
I can’t believe they played him if there was a chance that he could be ruled ineligible. From what I saw in the games he basically came in near the goal line to run the ball in. They have pretty good running backs to do just that. What a dumb decision to play him.
If he is ruled ineligible and he did play against us then yes 100% sure Texas Tech has to forfeit the game.
This is why HCWF and our A.D. took the decisions to not play our players that were/are still ineligible.
Appeal? Surely are coming. This is on the ncaa.
Why would Texas Tech do this? You foster an “arrogant” culture? This is what happened.
It is not for Texas Tech to forfeit the game. If he is confirmed ineligible the ncas has to have Texas Tech forfeit the game.
This is going going to be very interesting. Buckle up.
Can you imagine when the ncaa actually rules in our favor. This would be a first. Again, if this happenes the ncaa has no choice.
From what I read, Tech is safe. Castellanos had been ruled eligible by the court at the time he played us. He’s only ineligible as of today’s ruling.
Maybe.
I’d be more than happy to be wrong. ![]()
Memphis had to vacate all of their 2007-08 season wins, a year they played in the Final Four, because one player was ruled ineligible after it was discovered someone took his SAT for him.
I would think the same would apply to any game this QB played in this year if the final ruling is he’s ineligible. They wouild have to vacate any game he participated in. Otherwise, why appeal?
Yeah if the final ruling is sustained, then any previous ruling to the contrary was incorrect, in my non-expert opinion. So if a player that was ineligible to play took part in a game, then a victory was invalidated.
Nah, Tech is safe. Timmy Chan’s view above is correct. He was eligible when he played.
Kind of like an ex post facto law then?
I forgot the basketball games where a judge ruled an NBA G-League player elgible for Alabama that was later overturned. They didn’t have to vacate or forfeit the games he played in.
