So why has the B10 never tried to poach west coast schools if it’s all about tv?
Because they have a hundred year working relationship with the schools of the Pacific Coast league, and the most lucrative bowl partnership in the country…
B1G will go south for new TV markets, not west…if they choose to do so.

Has anyone brought up the instant rivalry of particular local interest of a texas school like UH against those dad-gum california schools?
Perhaps I’m overestimating the passion, but it’s rare I go through a day without hearing from a Texas native about the atrocities of California… May as well market it and settle it on the turf.

That’s an internet and/or just Texans talking there no way that drives a sports needle. I didn’t deal in that level of absolutes, but I would be floored if that could be sold to the California schools as a selling point. I feel like California vs. Texas is one sided thing, kind of like Texas vs. UH these days. Texans think of it as a rivalry Californians do not.
