There were students all over the place at the Rice game. I was sitting in the upper level and there were students next to me. In fact, I saw students looking around for empty seats. Until the attendance picks up, I would let all the students in and direct them to the upper levels. Go Coogs!
Agreed, never turn away students. Have them standing on the concourse if we’re sold out. They’re our future. And I’ve been pleased with this year’s group staying through the whole game, very refreshing.
They really weren’t that hard to find. ![]()
Well then where are people who bought tickets going to sit if every student gets in free
It would be a mess, and I’m not sure why those students weren’t in the student section
In theory in all over this. Working out the logistics is a bit more difficult but not insurmountable. Make it happen before the end of the season to take advantage of the interest.
What people? Lol
Agreed, that’s future donors and alums.
back when I was at UH they let all students in for free at The Rob - no limit.
2002 - 2006
Except for a couple of games last year, have we actually turned any students away? I know sometimes when the students section is full, students are told to find an empty seat and if someone tells you to move, find another empty one.
Only reason ever to turn away a student is because of fire code.
It still really!!
One word. Free beer.
If it’s GA for students, I suspect they try to cram in the lower level when there are lots more in the upper levels. I don’t think it’s an access issue. The 300s on the north side has lots of seats.
One possible solution….
Allow the remaining students to enter free after the first quarter.
By that time, most season tickets holders would already be in their seats.
In the event a paid ticket holder shows up, the student(s) will have to yield the seats.
Over time, ticket holders will be motivated to secure their seats before kickoff to avoid potential hassle.
Back in my day you just needed your cougar ID to be let in. 2009-2013. Go Coogs.
agree with this. I had 3 sets of season tickets, 108, 117 and 134 and there was always someone in my seats. Usually they wouldnt mind moving but sometimes I would get pushback. Dont want that to happen to ticketholders…Once the student section is full they should fill in from top down.
Send this idea to the new AD
Yeah, don’t think that would be an issue.
wrong thread
Great idea. Nickel beer for the rest of the game if Smith fumbles or throws an interception. Maybe if UH sees the mass loss by playing Smith, that may force them into playing someone else.
Ordinarily I wouldn’t say let them all in, BUT…
For the next home game, after today, I’m guessing our non-student fans will be sparse, so why not use our record sized student body make up the difference!
