Let's talk UCF

The UCF defense is well below ours.

Thus we get more stops and more offensive plays.

A shootout which we win.

49-24 Coogs

not sure why you responded to me. I dont think for a second that we will lose to UCF. They already lost to two teams so why not us as well?

Despite some wonderful improvement I don’t think we’re the conference champs this year. But I do think most will be back in Dana’s camp by the end of the season. He’s building.

It seems rare that we ever beat UCF. Here is hoping the defense continues to shine and that we put up a lot of points.

If we beat UCF, it will be because our defense is better than their’s, but it’s going to be a shoot out. UCF’s offense is really good. Their defense is highly suspect. We’ll need to create some turnovers and win some 3rd down battles to pull out the W. As I’ve grown accustomed to saying each week now, we really need to clean up the penalties and mental mistakes. No more false starts, no more unnecessary roughness penalties for OL diving on defenders while they’re on the ground. We have to be better than that if we’re going to win big games and/or beat good teams.

UCF has their own penalty problems.

Could be a loooong game.

For some reason it does but weve only played three times in the past 5 years won both in 2015 and 2016 but lost to them last year.

Hey, when did the Coogs start playing in the Big 12-2?

Based on watching the games and everything @pesik said earlier. Here, I’ll paste it to make it easier for you.

we are bottom 4 in almost every pass defense category in the league, despite not playing a single pass 1st offense (allowed qbr, td:int ratio.yard/att, yds per game etc.) and playing in bad defensive league
but you dont respect my knowledge for saying the pass defense isnt good…

No doubt it needs to improve and hopefully it will get better each game starting this Saturday.

We’re 3-6 against them all-time (all games since 2005) when we became conference mates. I don’t know why you cut it off at 5 years. We have performed poorly against them over the years.

Yeah I see your point…I definitely remember 2013 and 2014 being heart breakers we lost right at the end.

Just like with Tulane, we’ll slow their offense down enough to win…and our own offense will go to town on them!!!

COOGS win in a shootout!!!

so then you dont know yourself other than what you ā€œfeelā€ from watching the games and you are just taking pesiks word for it. I see.

Do you know what 4 defensive categories he is talking about and if we are bottom? One was supposedly yards/gm. We are currently giving up 354 yds/game. pesik says we are worst in the league with that stat. Only two other teams, Tulsa and Cincinnati have given up less yards per game. He also mentions we make opposing QB’s look good because of ā€œallowed QB ratingā€ yet based on what I have seen 2 of the 3 opposing QB’s didnt look so good unless losing is a good look for them.

Maybe pesik doesnt know what he is talking about.

Key will be how much pressure the front 4 can apply.

This. If we let Gabriel sit back there with time, he’ll pick our secondary apart. We have to keep him moving, looking over his shoulder and rushing pass attempts. After watching back through some of the highlights from the Navy game, it seems like Hypolite was a bit lost out there. I know he’s filling in for Anderson, but if Anderson isn’t ready to go, Hypolite needs to have a better understanding of coverage assignments than what we saw against Navy.

C’mon, guys. Let’s not get this thread shut down over personal bickering. Agree to disagree and move on to another topic. There’s a ton to discuss about this upcoming matchup.

childish name calling doesnt help to prove a point

passign yards… you listed overall yards, that makes no sense when we are talking about just the pass defense…

it isnt pesik saying anything, its that stat sheets…
ill just post the stats here so you dont manipulate the data any more

we give up 249.0 passng yards per game, 4th worst in the league
we allow a 166.47 passer rating, worst in the league
we allow a 7:1 td int ratio, worst in the league
we allow 9.6 yards per pass, second worst in the league…

i still cant believe you added the run defense stats to manipulate your point

I cant believe you cant understand that if you have a good run defense then the other team has to pass more against you thus the passing yards are going to add up. Total defense is what matters but clearly you dont understand that and instead decide to cherry pick a stat (passing yards) that is dictated by another stat (run defense). Weak

Interpret the stats anyway you like. The only one that matters is win loss.
