For those who aren’t college football lore junkies, Historically Utah only brings the blackout game when they’re really serious about taking out a tough opponent.
For example when Top 10 USC came to town, #11 TCU, etc
Utah is 13-4 when they go Dark Mode/Blackout
This is a little worse than their general home record, for what it’s worth.
They are pulling out the blackout for us what are they going to do in 2 weeks when BYU comes to town wear Columbia Blue?
Not a huge fan of the monochrome look, but color-on-color games are, as a rule, gorgeous, especially for rivalry games. Some other notable ones:
UCLA vs USC
Bama vs Tennessee
UH did it against Rice one year and it was great
We also did it against UTSA one year and it was baffling.
And then on the not-so-good side of things, there’s the 2022 Washington-Oregon game:
I think Baylor and TCU should start doing it, too.
I hope BYU wears these
Don’t really care what Utah wears… but the drum and feather is their best logo
Yeah, that’s the combo I think of when I think BYU. Y’all could definitely get away with being a no-alternates team, with the all-whites being the other combo.
On the other hand, I REALLY wish Auburn would reintroduce the orange jersey. They keep teasing the fanbase with an Orange Out every year and then not wearing matching jerseys, even though they’ve clearly already got a design, given that it’s in the files of CFB 27.
That goes absolutely crazy hard and you cannot tell me otherwise. I would buy one immediately.
So what I’m hearing is we’re their Super Bowl
Well, they have never beaten us in football. So may be another reason this is a big game for them.

Better Utah wear black than UH. I liked black unis for a one-time event, but now the novelty has worn off. Put the black unis in the closet and take them out in another 5 years.
If you have ever watched the Holy War, it is always full red against full blue. Pretty cool to watch, looks like a chess match.
I literally suggested that the red team Utah should wear Columbia Blue in their biggest game of the year it was a solid joke.
But you’ll strut around in a Smurf Blue costume?
I agree, we should wear our traditional red/white throw backs with the old interlocking UH so we look almost exactly like their home unis.

BYU is their super bowl, and always will be…this year, more than ever…Utah is a little afraid of us…They Have never beaten us…All their loud talk shows nervousness inside…
