Looks like game attendance will be over 30k

I have seen very few people on here giving tickets away, the secondary market only has a handful available and the cheapest I’ve seen anywhere is about $17.

I’m thinking we see about 34k, which would have been a sellout at The Rob.

I got the similar feeling seeing people wanting tickets on the Tickets exchange Facebook page. Parking passes are the hot commodity at the moment.
If we would have handled business against Arizona, this could have been close to a sell out.

UH put out a one day sale for $35 lower level tickets this am.

If that happens, then it’ll be proof of TWO things:

Thing One: The blue alternate jersey thing is an amazing promotion and branding device,

and

Thing Two: The importance of being in a conference with TEXAS schools, which generate greater fan interest and more intense local rivalries; being in such a conference, like the Big 12, is what I’ve always advocated for, over, let’s say, the PAC.

Well there’s also the little thing that there will be a lot of Baylor fans there.

Again, that is a part of “Thing Two,” the importance of being in a conference with TEXAS schools; not West Coast schools that won’t generate as much fan interest.

If true … good news at this stage of the season.

Go Coogs!

A decent number of Baylor fans will be at the game. Baylor fans will attend so they can have something to talk about on Sunday morning at church services:

  • UH is located in such a bad part of town.

  • Compared to Baylor, UH is not really a college campus.

  • I can’t believe we got of there alive after dark.

  • UH has no real support.

  • UH brings down the conference, all they have is Tilman Fertitta bankrolling their very existence.

  • I’m never going back to TDECU.

Yet, when you ask them the score of the game, “I don’t know.”

Trying to fill that lower bowl.

I also believe it shows how effective ticket specials are. I know it sucks for people who bought season tickets, but if you can do specials a few times a season, you might entice people who would willingly pay full price in the future.

Baylor students have the whole week off, so the Houston based ones are probably coming out here for the game.

Waco to Houston is a short little drive, they will have a large crowd, and we should send a large crowd when we play in Waco. Should be a fun rivalry.

We have about 40 people coming to our tailgate. Normal is about 18. !3 of the additional fans are invited friends from Baylor. With 6 or 7 additional U of H people. Perfect weather for the game. Hope the team shows up.

Didn’t we have this conversation about the UNLV game? I’m not holding my breath.

The secondary market prices did not support that optimism, you could get $2 and $4 tickets for that game. Right now on stubhub the cheapest tickets are $25 + fees.

So, maybe the blue merch actually did have an effect on attendance? :man_shrugging:

I know Baylir is gonna draw a lotta their own alumni & fans out, but still.

Game just started and this place is packed. Easily at least 37k.

It’s definitely the biggest crowd of the year, but certainly not 37K . Maybe 30

Its more than 30
