Look the guys can now sleep in their locker! No, we’re not overworking our “student-athletes”.
Well LSU football team brought in $112M last year so I think they can spend it any way they choose and they require no subsidies from the university. It’s up to the Louisiana legislators and LSU to get their academics finances in order.
IF you are sore you sit on a bench at your UT locker. IF you are sore you sit on your bed at LSU. Give me the latter.
Sleeping Pods seem very appropriate.
LSU has sleeped right on the field vs Bama for a long time.
(for context-my mom is from Slidell, LA. I have many relatives who went to LSU and I follow them closely)
98,000 People in Baton Rouge can READ a book? We’re not talking comic books right?
It makes it easy to get taped. You don’t have to go to the training room, just lay down at your locker. Overall I think these lockers are meh.
Just remember, last time the Governor was having a problem with the budget, he threatened to shut down the LSU football program. Amazingly, it worked as somehow they found money to fund the government.
Cajun genius!
I hate to see that scene at LSU. When I went there in '65-66 and when I got out of navy in '70-72, it was an entriely different scene. Tiger stadium held 65K at that time and now its above 102,000. The priorities have definitely been askew since I’m sure the stadium isn’t paid for by volunteers.
The article title made it seem like they were closing the football program because the school had no money to fund it but they were going to give all students athletes incomplete grades making them ineligible for the next season.
“If you are a student attending one of these universities, it means that you will receive a grade of incomplete, many students will not be able to graduate, and student-athletes across the state at those schools will be ineligible to play next semester,” Edwards said, according to The Times-Picayune. “That means you can say farewell to college football next fall.”
Holy Mother, we are turning football players into a bunch of wimps.
Next we are going to give them Pajamas, slippers and Hot Chocolate.
We are going to heck in a handbasket.
Well I don’t see it that way. The football team brought in $112M last year which their scholarship cost takes a small part of that. So instead of paying them to play, build them nice facilities to show appreciation for the success of the program.
I have no problem with luxuries for players. I have been an advocate that they get much more.
I also believe in smash mouth football. Rain, Mud, Heat, Cold, two-a-days and all the rest.
In my humble opinion-Luxuries-Yes! Nap time, a draw for your favorite security blankets, and teddy bear—— Not in football!
I can’t see a lineman trying to nap on those seat cushions. They could have set up a separate area for napping. Not very practical in my book.
They are being paid to play !
Looks like they actually brought in half that after accounting for expenses. Still a big number. That said, football programs typically have to fund the rest of the athletics programs too excluding maybe basketball.
Red…do you remember back in the day (late 70s ?), when the Gov wanted the Stadium renovated, but there was no more money in the Athletic budget…so he added CONDOS as part of the student dormitory system, built into the infrastructure of the Stadium itself, and got the money from the General Revenue Fund, and in the process renovated the entire Stadium ???
Cajun ingenuity defined.
LSU has lost its last 8 games to Alabama. I bet LSU’s head librarian would beat Bama’s head librarian at least half the time.
I don’t think it matters which librarian wins since we know the SEC is quite low on the educational level compared to the other P5s.
It’s like the LSU and BAMA librarians fighting to not be in last place.
Alleged academic brilliance is a very subjective thing… usually pushed by universities that charge abhorrent fees for the “privilege” to attend.
In my career I worked with people from many many universities all over the nation and some foreign countries.
Either you had the smarts or you didn’t. It wasn’t departed into your brain from the alleged greatness of the university.
