That definitely helps!
Too bad we can’t get Batton back for another year.
The dude was a hitting machine!
It’d also be tremendous if AJ Haulcy decides to return, though it’d shock me if he doesn’t declare for the draft.
Haulcy will likely get an evaluation first
Kid can ball. Wouldn’t be surprised at all if he goes.
I saw a post by Boogie Johnson saying he intends to return for his senior year. But didn’t say where exactly.
Is Boogie Johnson really Stephon Johnson?
Yes.
The tough part of playing at a NM school, then UH is that you are not going to get the respect of scouts that like all their players to come from the SECs top schools.
He could be a 3rd rounder. But likely 4th.
That is great!
Wow Mack returning is huge. The defense will be legit again. Get a QB and some high level WRs/OL
Is Cooper out of eligibility?
Yes, we have lost a lot on defense, but we have a lot coming back – Holmes, both McCutchin brothers, Haulcy (I think), and C. Allen. I think some of the guys that are underclassmen now will be ready to take a step up. Plus we will see what the portal brings.
Allen
Homes
Mack
That’s 3 starting DL.
Going to have to revamp the LB group but you get platt off injury. And you have a lot of young guys there.
Latrell
AJ
Webb
Back in the secondary. You have a chance to have a really good defense again.
Yeah, I think the biggest needs are finding someone to replace Cooper at DE, getting or developing a LB to pair with Platt, and someone from the portal to replace McLaurin. Might grab a few others here and there, but we won’t sign anywhere near what we did from the portal last year.
What is Haulcy going to do? Hope he comes back
It wouldn’t make sense for him to not go to the NFL.
I don’t know. Hope he returns. I looked at a couple of draft sites the other day and he was projected to be a third-day pick. Maybe a good season and he could go first or second day.
Corey Platt Jr. should step in and backfill that LB gap from Batton.
I believe Corey Platt (highly toughted Tulane Transfer) has another year of eligibility left.
If he decides to stay (i.e. not transfer out), it’d help boost the Defense. He was expected to be an immediate-impact player but went down with a torn ACL during pre-season.
He’s listed as a sophomore on the UH website.
