It was 16-5 after seven innings. Is it because it only got there in the bottom of the inning instead of top?
Found the answer:
Currently, the NCAA’s mercy rule is dictated by conference and usually only applies to the final day of a series or conference tournaments. The rule is implemented to help teams out who might be traveling to their next series that same day or for teams that have played four or five days in a row.

In 2003 southern had 10 draft picks and the top player in college baseball in Ricky Weeks and a regional win over Southern Miss -
Next thing you know the sec and everywhere saw that and started recruiting their pool of players for the infield and pitching slots and the game changed once again -
Now you see the kids of those guys now playing at UT, etc. due to that success -
They didn’t get bad overnight

UH used the crazy high ERA pitchers who have to get innings except 1 (pitched v McNeese).
What passes for solid pitching this season is set up until SAM to end OOC.

Southern still good under Roger Cador until a few seasons before the entire Ath Dept was hit hard in 2016.
I’m not a fan of the NCAA in a punitive capacity but 200+ ineligible players, etc needs a penalty.
