Andy Katz ranking the final 16.

I think his list looks mostly right.

Ttech should be higher (imo). And maybe BYU too.

I am also not sure if maybe Florida belongs above Auburn.

But otherwise…seems about right to me.

Maryland does not belong that high… swap them with Tech and I agree.

This list is dumb if it is solely focused on the first two rounds.

I would put Florida above Auburn. The Tigers were up by only 6 over Creighton (#38 in the NET) with 1:30 left in the game and were beaten by A&M, Tennessee, and Alabama in March. I don’t think they’re the team they were a month ago. I might also put Tennessee higher, somewhere around 4 or 5. Guess we’ll find out in the next two weekends.

I think he just reranking in order in Strength of what Teams remain for MarchMadness Sweet 16 .
Lots of sites will do the same this week-- ESPN, Yahoo Sports etc

His Big Ten homerism is showing.

Maryland was gifted a win over a team in KP’s 40-45 range.

Michigan State needed an 18 FT advantage to hold of New Mexico.

Katz Big Ten homerism always shines through. Techs ranking is probably fair if McMillian is out. If he can play though, I’d have them 6th or 7th behind the 1s, Bama, and maybe Tennessee.

Yikees. I didn’t realize it was going to turn into another Negative thread . Was more to discuss the Matchups. But i understand the B1G hatred.:grimacing:

We need a natty Jess22. That will cool the guys off !

You know that’s not enough. What abt next year!! NIL, Transfer Portal, 3rd string pg, etc. :grimacing: :unamused:

Ranking 1-16? Hmmm

Here’s my ranking:

Tech and Houston are 2 of the highest rated in the sweet 16 because they are among the most likely to advance.

Bama has an edge on BYU but it’s not the 2-6 game it is on paper. BYU will be a popular upset pick this week for good reason.

Duke hasn’t been tested in the tourney yet, or most of the season in the soft ACC. AZ will test and maybe knock Duke out.

Other non Big 12 matchups will also happen. I’m not sure and won’t look to confirm this. Those teams will matter if they make it deep enough to play Big 12 teams.

Struggling to see why he has 10 seed Arky above the 4 and 6 seeds here. Did something change with these teams that I missed. Literally nobody was talking about Arkansas pre tournament and if I’m honest, they didn’t really impress in their wins. They ran into a shell of a Kansas team and a St John’s team that missed so many layups I lost count

we havent had much of a discussion on this but who would we rather play in the elite 8 (should we make it)… but on the “chance” (knock on wood) we move forward

id much much rather play kentucky… weve beaten mark pope last year familair with what he does… and id much rather go against offensive teams… kentucky also down its 2nd best player and a different pg

Tennessee D is good enough to slow us down, it will be a 1st to 40 and those type of games, foul trouble, obscure shooting from the 7th man, big man freethrows start playing too much into tthe game

interesting though is that kentucky swept Tennessee in the regular season, including 1 without the injured players . but as the saying goes its hard to beat a team 3 times in a row…

I don’t think it matters - coin toss. We should head to final 4 against either of them. The real challenge and will be end of road will be against Duke. I will glad to be amazed.

Thing with Kentucky is they can be Jekyll and Hyde which actually scares me more than Tennessee. I don’t wanna run into a team that just has a super hot night like Miami. With Tennessee they are much better defensively but offensively they are more low key. I think we can shut them down

He seems high on the big 10, I’d be surprised if they have more than 1 team in the elite 8. :man_shrugging:t3:

I don’t want to face Kentucky. They seem to have the type of players that always gives us fits.
