Marcus Sasser

I am excited about all three of our incoming recruits…from what I hear Shead is a really good point guard who plays defense like it is supposed to be played…but has also developed an offensive game.
Can’t wait to see our 6-10 kid play…coach apparently got a real catch here…
as for Mark, he is the real deal and he isn’t coming here to sit on the bench. That said, I bet coach has told him from the get go that he will probably not start and will have to earn his minutes.
Mark is the fiery type of kid who is the type of kid who will get our crowds fired up…much like Hinton he is a crowd pumper.
Coach will tone down Mark’s temperament in certain situations, but you can bet the kid knows what to expect here and will not ever have to carry the Coogs on his back like he does at Dickinson.

Unfortunately, we’ve lost all five (5) games where CKS used Caleb Mills as our go to guy at the end of the game. The opposing coaches all anticipated that’s what CKS planned to do. We may need to mix it up a little better.

LOL, I know Sasser took at one of those final shots, maybe two…outside of those two can you name me a better go to option? and btw, even though the other coaches may have seen it coming with either of those two, we got off clean shots all four times…if you were watching each shot rimmed in an out…not lucky like BYU was when their last shot hit the rim and then the ceiling and fell through…

Butch, if I am remembering correctly, didn’t Alvin’s shot have more of a flat trajectory? Or was that Rob Williams? That was a lot of players ago.

Both Rob and Alvin shot with low trajectories, the difference being that Rob’s went in the bucket much more LOL…

Yeah it did. But I really liked Alvin Franklin a whole lot. That’s not to say I disliked Rob, too bad he had self destructive behavior because I think he had the ability to be a star in the NBA.

When Rob stayed out all night before the UNC game in the New Orleans Final Four, and only scored 2 points against the Tar Heels, it sunk us in that game – and we still only lost by 4 points. I always wondered what would have happened if he had been at full speed – not just for that game, but also the championship game.

BTW, I was still thrilled to be there and some of us were going around the French Quarter chanting “We’re tied for 3rd.”

Sasser has always reminded me of Kyle Lowry with the Raptors. They are almost the same height/weight and their skillsets are similar.

Good comparison…from the beginning of the year Sasser has improved in every facet of his game. I remember him looking like a deer in the headlights earlier when teams would throw a press at us. But now he looks relaxed and prepared.
His ability to shoot on the run is improving also and his defense has just blown up. I honestly don’t think we have ever had a pair of freshman guards any better than Mills and Sasser…and that is saying something…

I am good friends with David Bunce who was Rob’s roommate at UH during his playing years, and yes he has stories to be told. No doubt Rob was a free spirit…a very free spirit at that.
But in all honesty, we have never had a more talented guard than Rob Williams…he was a really good shooter, ran the fast break to perfection, could finish at the rim and handed out assists that would make any Harlem Globetrotter drool.
But after that incident in NO I really think Guy was glad to see him leave early. But hey, a sober Williams probably could have led us to two national titles.
Against NCS in that infamous loss, Rob would have been the difference…but I guess you could say the same if Drexler had come back his senior year, or Hakeem for that matter.
That moving on to the pros is very common in today’s world among elite players…

@imbac

If this kid turns out to be anything close to Kyle Lowry, we are definitely going to the final four in the near future. I love the physical comparison w/o looking at any numbers and comparing the two.

CKS is trying to win a national championship. No doubt about it.

When his career at UH concludes, Marcus Sasser will be considered the best Sasser of them all.

Wow! I assume you mean the best college sasser vs best nba sasser?

My understanding is that at least two of them are former nba players.

I’m totally developing a man-crush on Sasser. He reminds me of Corey Davis.

We were playing in the Sugar Bowl Classic when a few friends and I were at Pat O’Brians at about midnight when David Bunce and Gary Orsak came in. It was Bud & Margie Hayden, Jim & Nancy Gammage, Willie & Marsha Burns, Nd my ex and I. David and Gary joined us for a drink and swore us to silence. They were good kids. With the Bunce boys and Akeem, we had some serious height on that team.

Willie, Marsha, Jim, Nancy, and Bud have all passed away. Brings back memories and also sadness.

Mills is no doubt one of our best players but when we need that last shot for the win I prefer Sasser taking that last shot! There’s no kid that I have ever witnessed that can consistently hit the big shot when we need it the most like Sasser!

Sasser has missed the big shot though. It was a little hurried and rushed, but it was a clean look. And he missed.

I’m just saying…

I’ll take dejon going explosively straight to the basket. Imho, that is what should have happened vs Kentucky last year.

Of course every kid has missed a shot! But Sasser is the most consistent shooter I have ever seen by a college player! I just feel confident with the ball in his hands to deliver the last shot!

Well. I think he’s a competitor for sure. Can’t wait for Shead and Mark to come in and push him further along.

Cougar problems.

that was a wild night at Pat O’Brien’s. I have a vague memory of standing on a chair singing Cougar Fight. For me to sing in public I had to be wasted.
