Marcus Sasser

Lol @ woodmarkcos for saying we lost all 5 games COACH DECIDED TO USE MILLS AS OUR GO-TO GUY.

That is like using the glass is half empty trying to spin the truth.

What happened is the team and offense was going no where in those games and Mills HAD TO step in and carry the offense.

So while there is a correlation in Mills scoring big in some of the games we lost it is certainly not that we lost because Sampson decided to tell Mills to take all the shots. He saved us in those games and gave us a chance to win and won some we would not have.

Exactly. Mills put us in a position to win.

Have to agree somewhat on Rob Williams, but Otis and THE Duck would have been draws at best for him. They were bigger, stronger and tougher

Chaney was absolutely the best defensive guard we ever had here and he made a good living with the Celtics because of it.
Birdsong was a great shooter. He could stop on a dime a launch a shot from anywhere.
Another thing about Chaney and Birdsong
they were and still are great human beings and Cougars

yep

Remember there were fans of the teams from the Sugar Bowl football game and some other fans from the Sugar Bowl basketball classic as well as others. We would take turns doing our fight songs and everyone would cheer. Some clown got up and started singing The Eyes of Texas and everyone else booed him into silence.

I got a kick out of the UGA fans doing their cheer, “Gooooooo Dawgs, sic em! Woof, woof, woof woof!”.

I don’t remember seeing any Wake Forest Demon Deacons fans.

Otis Birdsong was the best shooter and one of the best scorers in UH history. His senior year (1977), he carried the scoring load at 30 ppg, shot better than 50% from the field, everyone in the gym knew that OB was going to take the shot, and yes, he could stop and shoot from anywhere on the floor. He had a lethal long ball (before the 3-point line), but his smooth mid-range game of stop and pop was the best ever in a UH uniform. He was and still is my all-time favorite Coog. I made a lot of jump shots in my drive way wearing a #10 jersey. If CKS gets his hands on the next OB, then watch out. We will not lose a game.

Go Coogs. Peace.

I think I’m going with Marcus Splasher

All of the game ending misses that I remember by Mills have hit the back of the rim or rimmed in and out. I’d be more worried if his misses hit the front of the rim, the backboard or just air.

What CKS has forgotten about basketball is worth more than all opinions on this board combined.

I’m with you butch, Sasser has had an impressive run lately, but I was a trainer at U of H same time Birdsong was there & he was unbelievable scorer and SHOOTER!

Birdsong remains one of my favorite all time Coogs. Who will ever forget him taking on the Arkansas trio!

Birdsong was unforgettable. I love Mills’ footwork. He might benefit with a bit more vertical on those fadeaways that come up short. When I first watched Sasser I did not think he was going to be a star. Now he reminds me of Elgin Baylor! I especially like his moves along the baseline when the defense cannot figure out his next step nor the tempo. These two can make UH history.

and to think Sasser would not have seen the floor this year if Armoni comes back.

Is that true? Who would run point?

Dejon and Quentin run much more point than Marcus

I thk the point he was making is if Armoni had returned there would be no Grimes. So pg would be Jarreau & ?. Safe to say it would have been true freshmen Sasser getting mins behind DJ. I do agree w you where up until recently you really wouldn’t see much of any point in gm where DJ or QG wasn’t in the game to run the pg position.

Looks like something could be up with Sasser. Seems like he had a injury or re injury of some kind. Hope he’s not hurt or anything

Hearing the same. Hoping it’s not season ending.
