Marcus Sasser

And I am not sure what he meant by minor setback. It is a major setback. For the team and him. It completely changes the equation for him and for the team. He can hope to have a comeback but I do not count on hope. Sorry for the reality dose.

Can’t Sharp play the Spring semester, then redshirt next Fall?

We shall see. I do not believe we are.

We need big leadership out of Fabian and Shead to pull this team together
cause yeah this hurts

Road games just got interesting

A freshman :joy: yup that’s the :tickets:

It’s not a matter of using a redshirt year. I’m sure Emanuel and his family weren’t planning on him being here 4 years anyway. It’s a matter of the timing to learn the system and buy into the culture

It will be an interesting meeting between Coach Sampson and Sharp.

What if Sharp wants to play? His decision?

Of course he “wants” to play. Tramon wanted to continue playing as well and apparently pushed back some on having surgery

Back to your question as to who makes the decision, it’s 100% Kelvin’s

without Sasser we are still very much a tournament team, just not a deep tournament team.

its next man up and we’ve got a few. this certainly isnt optimal but it will get some people experience where they otherwise wouldn’t have gotten it and it all but assures us next year will be something to behold.

I hope you are right but I have a different perspective. If CKS takes this team to tourney, he should be AP coach of the year. Imagine if last year, we had lost Grimes, would be even half as successful. It is not just replacing a starter with close to 20 pts/game but the chemistry that he has with the team offensively and defensively that makes the Team go. It is not plug and play. Months of practice, film room and hard work gets you there.

Yes season is over for sure

i know @Hill and others arent sold on the “activate sharp movement”
alllow me to make a presentation to pitch to you guys
to see the :sparkles: Vision :sparkles:

none of the remaining guards on roster are known for high volume scoring
you could make a case for ramon, but he was only high volume vs weaker high school kids, but wasnt putting up much in aau

sharp is touted soley for electric scoring

  • as a freshmen in HS lead all florida freshmen in scoring at 27pts per in varsity
  • then lead all of Fiba U15 in scoring for team Israel
  • as a sophomore was top 5 nationally in scoring doing over 32pts a game - florida 5a player of the year
  • then was the #2 scorer in the U16 Nike EYBL (Nike is the top aau circuit- picture below) - 30pts a game -lead his team to final 4 at peach jam
  • as a junior switched to a new high school - did 25pts a game, lead that school to the state title and best record in program history - 3a player of the year

link is a picture of eybl u16 scoring leaders when he played (note everyone else on this list are top 10 5stars)

to be fair in this assessment: there are going to be doubts about his defense, and his conditioning
counter: sampson said armoni was the worst defensive player he ever recruited, yet played his 13 mins a game as a freshmen, there are way to make it work, and he wont be playing major minutes so his conditioning doesnt need to be amazing

“he should be in High school”: he is the same age as jalen duren (like FPOY) and emoni bates
i can name tons of others who played at high school age and had success like josh primo last year

samspon said caleb mills was good enough to play his redshirt year and make an impact

clarify: im not saying he should be a core player and get 20+ mins a game, but i think he can make an impact in giving our main guards rest, or not force us to play a guard in foul trouble, and on the rare occasion be an offensive spark
if he is activated i can almost assure in the remaining 24-ish games, he would be the reason we won atleast 1 of them

that is all

How is the season over? We win our home games

Let’s say lose @Memphis, @Wichita, @UCF, @Cincy.

Are we a bubble team. Idk. Maybe a lower seed like a 7-10 seed

Season over as far as a run to final 4 or Natty, no chance now this year, but next year watch out we are loaded!!

Barring a near-complete collapse, which I can’t imagine happening with a team coached by Kelvin, we’ll most likely get an invite based on the “goodwill” of the past couple of seasons

i dont know how we score on memphis, i still feel comfortable beating everyone else
our conference isnt good this year

cincy is terrible on offense, wichita relies on 1 player to score, ucf is deep but hasnt put it together yet

Very disappointing news. Can’t remember any one year we lost two starters for the season.
While my expectations for the team has lessened a bit I still think we will be good and competitive.
Shead stepping up like he has is huge and let’s hope guys like Taze, Roberts and young Walker answer the challenge and step up.
Although our conference is not great we cannot afford many games where we hit 2-21 from deep.
I doubt Sharp is ready to handle the pressure after coming off an injury himself and not playing for his high school. But coach and coach only will determine that.

It would be great if we could have true butts in seats sellouts for the remaining home games. Fertitta Center could be really intimidating if so and the team will need to win these home games.

If he can help at some point then great still doubt it happens any time real soon if it does. The players you mentioned had 5 months to prepare before the season rather that joining the program as conference play starts
Big game coming with Cincinnati.
