Great work and exposure for UH academic research especially for the anthropology program. I remember being in a couple of anthropology classes in the 80s with Professor Brown iirc his name correctly. Great classes. He would go on and on about his Mayan digs. I wonder if this latest research is connected to Dr. Brown’s work from back then.

Man, I’m glad the ANTH dept (under the “Cultural Comparative Studies” at UH) is getting some shine. I’ve been trynna connect with them as an Alumnus to see how I can help give them greater visibility & even help connect students with actual jobs…but they don’t return my calls/emails/voice messages, and they’re never in their office when I take time outta my day (& job) to try visiting & talking in person.

I double majored with ANTH and Drs. Brown and Widmer were fun archaeologists to take classes - they also did a dig of a plantation and slave quarters down in Brazoria County.

This is why we still need those majors vs just business majors etc. Life would be boring without English majors writing novels and arch majors discovering stuff etc. I just went to the museum of natural sciences and saw the new exhibit on king Tut in Houston along with the dinosaur exhibit. It was a great experience. The king Tut exhibit showed you what they first found in 1922.

The majors that make our life interesting is in the arts and humanities and natural sciences. Ever read a book? It was prob an English or journalism major. Movies? , it was prob great actors from a theatre major.
